What a wonderful place you've got here! Lots of wagging tails and wet noses.
My name's Kelli. I'm a graphic artist/web developer in Kentucky. I've been a dog lover all my life, but I'm new to beagles.
We adopted Elvis about a month and a half ago, when he was seven weeks old. We'd been discussing a second dog for a while and finally decided to go for it when we found him. He was destined for the pound, otherwise, and we don't have a no-kill shelter here. Anyway, one look at him and we fell in love instantly.
Our daughter (Kiera, she's 6) is crazy about him. They're best friends. She was too young to really bond with Izzy (our older dog, a genuine mutt) when we got her, so this has been a good experience for her. She spends a good portion of her days playing with Elvis, and she's responsible for taking him outside, cleaning up after him, feeding him, taking him for walks, etc. He really is her dog. She's taken on a great deal of responsibility and handled it all really well and without complaint.
It's been wonderful to watch! Of course, I'm crazy about the little guy, too. He's stubborn, but very smart and sweet and, all in all, well-behaved (though he does, of course, have his puppy moments).
Elvis (yes, he sings) isn't really a pure-bred beagle. He's half beagle, half treeing walker--ALL hound. This seems to be a very good combination.
Here he is!
