My name is Nat. In a few weeks, my husband and I (along with our kids) are going to be adopting a Beagle/Basset Hound mix named Reggie. Here is his picture.

Here is his Petfinder page.

I'm really excited to find a board like this. I have been on a board like this one (except it's for Labs) for the past few years, so I'm glad that I've found a community similar to that one for Beagles. I'm very excited to learn more about this breed. We've already done a ton of research and are so happy that his adoption and homecoming are right around the corner now. It's been a long wait trying to find just the right dog - but is it ever worth it!!!

Welcome to you no1utefan!

Reggie is a fine looking little guy! It's wonderful that you all found each other.

Sometimes I wonder if my Henry is a beetle/basset mix...his ears seem extra long and silky and his legs are speckled and he has huge feet!

Glad you found BW...keep us posted!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I'll rest easier when I know that everything is done and he is actually home. I'll post more pictures of him soon and keep everyone posted. We have our home visit this Saturday, and that should be the last thing we need. :happyhappy:

Howdy  Welcome to Beagle World and welcome to the world of hounds. IMHO hounds are the best and Reggie is the product of two of the best of the hounds. He sounds like a great dog. Looking forward to exchanging information and hearing of Reggie.

Welcome to BW, Nat! We are all looking forward to Reggie's homecoming -- it sounds like he was near the brink of death -- SO glad he will find his forever home with you and your family. We have quite a few members who have beagle/basset mixes and a couple of folks who are looking to adopt them.

Hi Nat, and welcome to Beagle World!! Tthank you for adopting Reggie--he is so pretty and sounds like a wonderful boy!! My Shiloh is a beagle/baset cross. She looks mostly like a beag except her legs are shorter--not quite as stubby as a full Bassett but not as long as a full Beagle either--and her body is longer like a Bassett. She seems to have bypassed the Bassett tendancy to drool a lot /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif which does make life easier!! I'm sure your family will love Reggie!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm sure we'll love him, too. We're so excited. We just found out that he gets to come home a bit early to us. He'll be here on May 16th. The rescue lady has some friends that are actually driving up to Indianapolis from Knoxville, so that means he gets to come home a few weeks early. YAY! His new name is going to be Dash. My kids wanted to name him that. So, that's his new name. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif And that's two or so weeks earlier to get great pictures of him for all of you. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
