Looks all beagle to me. From the picture a red and white (or possibly lemon and white). Not all beagles are tri-colored. We have the same debate about one of our boys. His surrender papers that we got from the rescue say beagle-mix but the vet says all beagle. We don't care either.

If he is a "mixture", there was another hound breed in the mix. My guess is Foxhound and Beagle. Might just be a big Beagle. It happens

Looks BEAGLE all the way to me ! But I am FAR from being an expert on dog breeds . While many beagles share the tri-color there are some that do not. Like someone else mentioned,if he is not pure beagle there was a hound type breed similar to a beagle bred in him.Just enjoy anyway !

He really looks like a red and white beagle

...question is, what is his height from foot to front shoulder...Ive heard beagles are really either 13 or 15 inches...he looks like a 15 incher...if he is taller than that, he is probably a mix...(not sure if this is the same for beagles outside the US)

Ill be honest, he looks taller than my Snoops who is 15"...other than that, he looks pure beagle to me

Looks like a Beagle to me! Actually, he reminds me a lot of Jersey, both in markings and in body shape. He does seem tall for 6 months though, so perhaps some sort of hound like a Fox Hound. Even if he's not all Beagle, like Jersey, he's all hound. And very handsome might I add! I do have a soft spot in my heart for the lemon/yellow/red and whites of the breed! I'm sure he's a great companion regardless of his lineage! Oh, and just so you know, we don't mind at all if Gus isn't all Beagle. Lots of us have a little something extra in our Beags. They are all welcome here! Welcome to BW.

Ok, we're not too sure about the standards in measuring. To the point in the side of his chest where his shoulder/breast bone protrudes is 12". To the highest point of his back is 17". We're also not 100% sure of his age. Since he's a rescue, 6 months is really just an approximation.

You would measure from the floor in a straight line along his front leg to his back (top line). If that is 17" he is tall. I still think all beagle, maybe from a breeder who wasn't interested in conformation. But as others have said, if he is mixed with something its most likely another hound because from a looks perspective nothing looks off for a beagle.

As a comparison, this is Buster. To me, all beagle, but like I said his surrender papers say beagle mix. The only difference I can see is he has a double coat.

As another comparison, this was Bailey our foxhound. You can see that there is quite a height difference

He looks the same shape as my Snoopy ( Snoopy is 6mths too) - very leggy compared to most low to the ground beags. Snoopy is meant to be purebred although he hasn't got papers so who knows for sure. He was the biggest in the litter though.
I haven't got any standing photos of him - will have to take one - except he never stays still long enough.
