Hello! I am so excited to be able to chat with other beagle lovers!!!

We have a "rescued" beagle. A friend of ours found her tied to a tree on the side of a road. She was tied with a rope. She was under-weight, and covered in fleas. After he saw the dog in the same spot for 2 days with nobody in sight, he brought her to us and asked us to bring her to the local pound. Yeah right!!!

We decided to keep her for a few days and see if anything showed up in the paper, and I visited all of our local pet supply stores to see if there were any pics up, or if they had heard of anyone missing this dog.

Turns out that nobody ever came out to claim her. We were told that even if the person did come back to claim her that we should not give her back, due to the condition she was found in. Thankfully though, that was not an issue!

We beleive that she may have had puppies sometime shortly before she was brought to us. The vet said they couldn't be sure without cutting her open. I said forget about it, not happening! They also guessed her to be about 4-5yrs old. She had very bad teeth, including a rotten one! Poor pup!

We named her Daisy, and introduced her to our Great Dane, Bella. They tolerate eachother- but crazy enough, Daisy is the boss!

Daisy is my baby! She is sooo good with kids, and is so cuddly and lovey, I could go on and on!

I look forward to learning more about other Beagles, and hoping that I can get some tips and help with ours!

Awwww what a great story! Soo glad your Daisy found you (or you found her, both ways) just in the nick of time it sounds like!

I read your other post, and yes you are going thru everything normal for beagles! sorry to tell ya that, but its true! As far as the part about peeing in the same spot, I do understand it, it has happened for us too, but I dont know exactly what we have done to break it, just that we have now.
I think part of it though is just getting used to her new home, etc.

We had a little guy we found here this winter too, when it was 20 below zero! He showed up at our door, bones showing thru, no collar, and after one night out there, I couldnt handle it and let him in. After plenty of signs around town, it was obvious he didnt belong to anyone either, and has become part of our pack of 3 beagles now.
He has a lot of different issues too, other than our other 2 whom I have had since birth for one, and 6 wks old for the other.

If you want to-you can email me specific questions too-I will see what I can do, but otherwise I am sure the rest of the gang on here will jump in and share thoughts with you too.

Give Daisy puppy kisses and hugs from the gang here!

Judi and the fearsome threesome (HAHA) sorry had to

Howdy  Welocome to Beagle World and a big welcome arroooo to Daisy from my rescue beagle. My beagle was also tied to a tree but at least he was tied outside the pound. They charge a $5.00 dropoff fee if you actually turn the dog in. I adopted him the evening his number was up, sort of a last minute reprieve. He was also between 3 and 5 when I rescued him. That was 9.5 years ago and I've never regretted it. Your daisy sounds like she has finally got the life she deserves. Welcome again.

Welcome, JB, to Beagle World!! AND a Big Hi from my Daisy to your Daisy. Stubborn (as most Beagles are :biglaugh: ) but loving and friendly. Her dad and I just loved her from the first day. We have no children, so she's our baby!!

Hubby wanted to name her Princess and I liked Daisy, (her name originally was Shiela, which we didn't care for) so we compromised and her full name is Princess Daisy.

Hope you get lots of advice and lots of fun in our group. We need pictures!!

It breaks my heart when I hear about abandoned dogs. I'm so glad that there are people like you to give them forever homes. I look forward to hearing all about your new beagle baby. And you can never post too many pictures /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Welcome to you and Daisy!

Oh, the monstrous things people do to animals! :angryfire: People like you restore my faith in humans.

On behalf of Daisy, I will say "thank you for saving my life...you will not regret it".

Daisy looks remarkably like my Henry in body structure...although Henry did not just give birth /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif . I'll find a picture and share.

Having a rescue is wonderful...remember they carry hidden baggage from their previous life that we might never understand. We just have to be there for them and stay consistant with our love for them.

How is she doing these days?
