It was three years ago today that our little Popcorn arrived on the plane from Newfoundland - skinny and terrified... She may still be terrified a lot of the time, but she certainly isn't skinny anymore (but the diet is working - slowly)! She still has her good days and her bad days, but when I see her wagging her tail OUTSIDE, which she does from time to time now, I know that she has really made great progress, and hope that one day she will really be freed from her fears.

And she is still the best cuddler of our pack!

Love you Poppysnoots!!

Popcorn thanks you all for the good wishes on her special day - although she complains that her dinner tonight tasted pretty much just like it always does (darn allergies).

Oh, and Crazy Daisy, Popcorn is a rescue we adopted (three years ago today!) at approximately 7 months of age who was terrified of absolutely everything when she arrived. She was a stray in Newfoundland so we don't know much about her background other than that she was probably a failed hunting beagle, since there are a lot of them there. Part of her terror was probably from leaving a rural environment to our urban one (we live in a downtown condo in Vancouver) and therefore getting used to all of the sounds of a city, but it really didn't stop there... an example is that she was even afraid to cross the metal threshold on our front door and we had to carry her for the first few days. She has made steady progress ever since - and it definitely helps that she has an extremely self-confident older sister (Booker) and brother (Moose) to help her along in the world, but there are still days when she sits at the front door shaking in the morning as it is clearly too much for her to even comprehend going outside (she still needs to be carried out sometimes). It just makes my heart melt...
