So my husband had today off and we spent an hour of it at the park with the dogs and our 3yr old son before our older 2 got home from school anyways we were walking past some mothers and their toddlers when one shouted out to her kid get over here right now, you just never know with beagles and me being the person I am shouted to my husband who was walking ahead of me Hey Matt you better keep a hold of Daisy because you just never know with beagles, he said I had fire shooting out of my eyes and was growing claws
I understand being cautious but come on it's a beagle. I just wanted to box her ears, it fires me up when people say things about beagles as much as it does when things are said about my children! O.k. I feel better I just had to vent.

Ugh, some people can be so silly. I've really never heard of a Beagle who was aggressive toward people. Now, if you have a hot dog in your hand then you might want to be careful...

You were alot nicer then I would have been. I have never gotton comments like that about my Beagle but I have gotton those kind of comments about my Pit Bull. Sometimes I keep my mouth shut or just say a smart a$$ comment back to them and other times I say what is on my mind.

Wow - I get that with my greyhounds but never with a beagle! Except for the time some kids were yelling pit bull, pit bull when they saw Benny.

Beagles definately can be dangerous!!! Ha ha ha ha

Ditto! Ugh, what a jerk! Every single person I've run into- with or without kids -has LOVED Menolly. I feel sorry for the kids, being exposed to such a negative veiw toward one of the sweetest, kid-freindly dogs ever (and I say this from experience; Menolly behaves impeccably toward my three year old nephew).

Wow! That is insane, but I know how you feel, I would've been more than peeved also.

We were at a petstore one day with Roscoe and two women were commenting on how cute he was and I was all smiles but then I heard one of the women say, and I quote, Yeah they may be cute but I heard they stink when they get wet! She said it and looked at him with such disgust! My husband and I just looked at her with what must've been dumbfounded looks on our faces...Ummmmmm don't all dogs stink when they get wet??? Besides, ours smell like roses all the time

Shoot..so many good come backs I didn't think of at the time
It just really bothers me that Beagles get such a bad rap. I remember once when a religious group came to the door and when I opened it the woman gasped and stood back like I had a mountain lion next to me, now in her defense Gunnar was barking but he is still just a beagle. Oh well their loss!

I warn any little kid that comes to the dogs. they're friendly, but they are excitable

COnsidering Josie and Charlie have NEVER gone after my niece after ear pulling, tail pulling, waking up, toy taking, leash tugging, etc .... I don't worry about them biting anyone...ever.

Ah quite the opposite, funny that I was just telling my girlfriend about Charlie's behaviour. I said he may seems small, but he has a temper. Just walking on the street, a neighbor walked by us and smile and hello. Charlie would lung at him. So many times I said no no no, but he sees it as danger?! I would tell people that he is not as friendly. And apologize for his action. But only seems to be when he is on leash. He feels restricted needs to protect himself. Yes, he still charge at other dogs on leash. Don't take it so personally, This beagle of mine... hehe Charlie is not so friendly. Maybe she should've ask you if Daisy is friendly first before making judgement right away.
For now I have gotten used to it, I do not owe any explanation to any body. It is also ok if they say Charlie is not friendly or even I am not friendly. After all, when we pass the street, I do not even know the name of that person. Makes me feel better now, at least not so embarass. Sometimes I even think Charlie is my body guard, walking alone in the hill side is not that safe.
