Thanks Eleanor. No, there are no new developments. She had the one TINY stillborn puppy Wednesday night - she was heartbroken and kept looking for her baby. I was heartbroken for her (and for me) - She will be spayed in a few weeks, after she's recuperated from her lengthy labor and delivery. I've kept a really close watch on her - don't want any infections or anything, but she seems to be fine - just about back to normal. She's eating well and playing with her other kids (Joe, Jack and Angel). I'm sad - and disappointed - since a friend wanted to take one or two pups and train them for field trials - which is what these dogs were bred for - but guess Deb (her breeder) and I will never see that IFC or FC behind the name of one of JoJo's pups. Both JoJo and Tanna are from long lines of International and National Field Champions. I'm NOT a good breeder - I hurt too much when I lose puppies - and heaven knows, it's NOT the $$ - since every litter I've ever had here has COST me money. I love raising puppies and watching them develop from little hamster like critters to adorable beagle puppies who make wonderful family members for someone. Right now my two youngsters (Bella and Angel) are wrestling - they are making mommy smile with their antics. Haven't had much to smile about lately. Angel is JoJo's daughter from her last litter - hopefully SHE can carry on her mom's wonderful line. I just hope she's as good a mom as JoJo and HER mother.

I'm so sorry to hear about JoJo's baby. Poor thing must be heartbroken. I know what you mean about getting too attached. Cassie had 2 litters when she was younger and, like you, I loved the entire process and sat on the floor next to her as she birthed each litter. Each puppy was named (though it's often SO hard to tell yellow lab pups apart) and we were so careful about who they went to, most ended up with friends and family. There were 2 runts in the first litter that didn't make it and I laid next to Cassie and mourned right with her. It's so hard.

Hugs and gentle rubs for you and JoJo. I have no doubt Angel will be a wonderful mommy when the time comes.

Thank you! JoJo is recuperating - I think she's just about back to normal, and as soon as she's all healed she'll be spayed. Strangely enough it's sometimes very difficult to tell beagle puppies apart too - I always give them temporary names just for identification purposes. I'm more observant now than I was when the first litter was born here. Some litters are easier to distinguish, but some the pups have such similar markings that it's HARD. JoJo's first litter was pretty easy - she had 5 pups - 2 LITTLE girls (one didn't make it) and 1 BIG girl, and 1 LITTLE male (my Joe) and 1 BIG male (Jack). Joe and the little girl (Bitsy) had such similar markings - it would have been almost impossible IF they hadn't been different sexes. Jack and Miss Piggy didn't look anything alike. Jack has very little white on his head - Miss Piggy (she was born and headed straight for the dinner table) had a lot of white on her. Lottie's litter was (she had to have a c-section so I had her spayed at the same time) pretty easy to distinguish - 1 male, 2 females, and the little girls didn't look anything alike. I miss having babies around. I'm hoping to get a little male to breed with Angel and Bella (Bella is actually old enough now - she was 2 in May) - but I'm looking for a very special boy for my two little girls and right now I just don't have the money. It's nice to know that someone understands just how hard it is to lose these babies. Thank you!
