Denise -- what great news! You know I'll be writing that one down ... it's amazing how much better we feel when our pups take in some food. I think you're smart to hold back more until you see how Olivia handles what she ate already. Was back at the vet today as Maggie is having trouble keeping down what little food she eats. Lots of prayers heading your way!

I've written it down in hopes that I'll never need it, but it's good to know that there's something for loss of appetite.

I know you're so happy that Olivia has eaten, and I so hope she can keep the food down. Prayers continue to go up.

So far, so good. Olivia has kept down all that she has eaten since 4pm. That would be:
-poached liver (I hide her pills in it)
-Kraft mac/cheese
-one jar of chicken baby food
-some chicken sticks (baby food, kind of like Vienna sausages)

This stuff isn't on a renal diet but I think we will have to settle for "beggars can't be choosers". You get to a time in your life where what you eat isn't as important as just EATING.

Judy,
Why isn't Maggie eating or keeping it down? Ask about this medicine. As of this week, the cost of it has changed drastically. The bottle I have would have costed over $100 last week but since the decrease in the generic, today's bottle costed $35. Amazing!

Denise, I'm so glad to hear that Olivia is keeping her food down. That's a great sign. You may also want to check and see if it's a drug that is available at a regular pharmacy. Amber's heart pills were $78 a month from the vet...only $18 at the Sam's Club pharmacy. Florida has a law where a vet has to write a prescription if the client asks for it (as long as it's something available at a regular pharmacy - did you know that Judy?). I don't know about Virginia, but you should check it out.

Hi Jen!

Actually, this RX was called in to a local pharmacy. My girlfriend went and picked it up for me and the pharmacist told her that the cost of the generic form came down drastically last week and lower again as of today.

I'm happy to hear that, Denise. Being able to keep the food down sure is a good sign. When my previous dogs or cats were sick and I had to take them to the vet, the very first question he asked was, "Does he eat?" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Keep it up (and keep the food down), Olivia!!!
