We have an appointment with the vet on Saturday for Maggie's pre-op, and her spay is scheduled for this coming Monday. My husband's taking vacation next week so he can look after her while she recovers (I can't get the time off work...grrrr!) and I know she's going to be fine, but I'm still sooooo worried.

After losing Molly this past January, I can't help but think of all the things that can go wrong. I really don't think I could take losing another dog so unexpectedly, so please keep Maggie in thought. Thanks guys!

My little Molly and I are hoping everything goes smoothly with no surprises. Our fingers (and paws) are crossed. I am sure she will breeze through and love the extra attention she gets during her recovery.

Good luck Maggie!

I certainly understand your being nervous as I always worry whenever any of our hounds have surgery (which seems to be rather a lot...). I know she'll be fine, but am sending you both lots of good thoughts and belly rubs to Maggie - gentle ones after the surgery, though.

And although we came around long after Booker was spayed so we don't know about her recovery, Popcorn flew all the way out to Vancouver from Newfoundland only four days after she was spayed and everything was absolutely fine - so I suspect Maggie will be back to her normal self in no time at all!

Your feelings are very understandable. Too bad there is mommy-leave for beagles or any of our furbabies!!!! Cobi sends his love, and we will be thinking of her....Please let us know that she is okay. HUGS<

I think all of us are concerned when any of our furkids have surgery of any kind, but I've had MANY dogs in my 69 years and most of them have been spayed or neutered, and we've never had a problem with any of them. That doesn't mean I'm not a typical mom and don't worry - because I do - I usually worry more about the girls because it's a more invasive surgery, but they've all done very well and had no problems.
We're sending healing thoughts to your Maggie though! She will be just fine, mommy!

Maggie's surgery is tomorror Jen. Yesterday was her pre-op appointment. They weighed her, did a routine check-up, and a CBC. She DID NOT handle it well. She's deathly afraid of the vet, started shaking as soon as we walked in the door, then peed on the floor immediately.

This is the first dog I've ever had that has been so afraid of the vet. I'm sure it has to do with all the visits she had when we first got her and she had kennel cough. She had to have multiple injections, including two sub q fluid boluses, and by the way she acts now, she most certainly remembers it.

In addition to the spay, she's also getting her umbilical hernia repaired, and she's getting microchipped. I feel sooooooo bad about putting her through all of this. The good news is, my husband is off work for a week, and I only have to work half day tomorrow, so I'll be able to go with him tomorrow evening to pick her up. I'll be sure and update tomorrow night. Thanks for the well wishes everyone!
