I hope someone can help me figure this out!

So on the dog food bag for Rockwell's weight he should be getting about 1.25 cups a day. They say until 6mths to divide it into numerous meals. The thing is, I don't want him to get used to eating around lunch time because no one will be here from 7:45am until 2:30pm on weekdays. My son will come home for a potty break on his lunch hour because the school is right around the corner (and that's another question...how long should we do that???) but I don't think there's going to be enough time for Rockwell to eat as well.

Any suggestions??

As long as you feed at the same times every day then it wont matter if he waits for his second meal until 2.30. Give him a bit more at breakfast time. Then once you are home a smaller one and a bigger one in the evening. If your son finds he can get home every lunch time, then Rockwell should have his potty break and then get fed. They soon learn a routine. At six months you can then switch to two meals a day.

Murphy never seemed to want to eat 3 times a day. I'd put food out and he would ignore it at noon, and he eats very little in the morning. At just over 6 months we're maybe 1/2 cup in the morning and a cup at dinner.

I've also found that with the higher quality food he seems to eat less, though he's gaining weight just like he should.

Once in the morning, and until 6 months or so once at 2:30 and then dinner should be fine.

Georgia eats at 7:00 am & again at 7:00 pm in the morning she gets a 1/2 cup & at night she gets a 1/4 cup

Squeegee never wanted to eat 3 times a day either. We got him when he was 7 weeks old and have always fed him twice/day. It didn't seem to have any ill effects so if you're not able to feed him midday I don't think it's a huge deal... just my opinion

Summer and Kali get 2 meals: breakfast and dinner.

Ru and Bailey get fed every 12 hours, approximately - eightish or ninish am and pm. If I'm late or early, they don't care. They could eat all day!!

i only feed my beags once a day, in the morning. they get plenty of water throughout the day though. is that not good?

Our beagles get fed between 7-8 AM and again between 3-5 PM or so. It depends on the day and what is going on. Sometimes they don't get the second feeding until between 6-8 PM. It hasn't killed them yet. They just deal with it. Yours probably will to.

As for the amount, you'll have to determine that for yourself. Start with the recommended amount on the bag and see how your beagle does. If beagle gets fat, feed less. If beagle seems hungrier than usual, feed more. In our case Monty gets about what the bag recommends and he keeps a healthy weight and such. If we fed Chica as much as the bag recommended we'd have to roll her out the door.
