Hi Everyone!

Lately Oscar has been shedding a ton. He doesn't seem to be stressed or warm, it's actually quite cold here! I'm wondering if maybe there a different foods out there that will help with his coat and perhaps decrease the amount of sheeding. Right now he is on Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's soul food. He seems to like it some days, and not so much other days. But his coat just doesn't seem very sleak and shiney.

Any suggestions?

My dog's coat had become dry, and he was shedding a lot too, about a month ago. His skin was also flakey, and I figured that it was probably because of the cold weather. I started giving him a little bit of olive oil (like 1/4 teaspoon) once a week. He got shinier again, and doesn't seem to be shedding as much either.

Indoor dogs do shed during the winter some times as much as the summer. The shedding cycle is actually not linked to the temperature but to the amount of light. Indoor dogs do live with electricle light, thus fooling their system. There is some evidence also that some types of light such as hallogen may cause more shedding than regular light becasue of their intensity.
Furthermore, more white your dog has, more he will shed. You probably noticed that most of the hair found on your Beagle cushion or bed is white....

The only product I know to help the amount of shedding (not the entire shedding), is a product called "The missing link". It is a natural herbal mix which, when added to the food, will keep a coat healthy and full, thus reducing the shedding.
