Rascal is a rescue so we don't know her early history. My theory, when you pet or rub her just right she does a doggy version of a purr :D It sounds sort of like a soft growl but her body language doesn't reflect that. It's just she can't vocalize a purr.
Does anyone with cats have a beagle that purrs too  ?

2 cats, 3 dogs (one with no beagle) and sadly no purring dogs! I'd love to see/hear that! Very cool. Shucks at Rascal.

Molly is full of all sorts of sounds, she has quite a range of different ones. No purring but she sort of groans a little when I rub her belly.

Recently adopted a rescue, Maggie, does something that feels similar to a cats purr.
