Bentley HATES water. Today him and my Shep Annabelle are having to spend the day outside because we are having our carpet replaced with laminate (yay!).

They are not use to being out in the heat (it's 100 right now BAH)so I put a kiddie pool out there for them. Annabelle is all in it splashing around acting like a fool, but Bentley won't go near it!! He's always treated water like it was acid or something. LOL!

Will your beagle voluntarily go for a swim or does it avoid water at all costs?

It is a resounding NO from all of our three. Sometimes we walk out at one of our local beaches at low tide when the sandy flats go on FOREVER and then we walk back in as the tide is also coming in... meaning that we sometimes have to cross across pools where the water is up to our knees or higher. It is hilarious to watch the beagles try to avoid the water and then eventually realize that they have no choice but to get in, get wet and, if the water is high enough, swim. Booker is actually quite a good little swimmer if she has to - Moose tends to sink and get freaked out and swim around in circles, and Popcorn just gets scared (but then again she is scared 98% of the time anyway).

The funniest thing I have seen at the beach is when Booker will noticeably suck in her stomach to avoid it getting wet - turns out she does have some stomach muscles after all, she just chooses to ignore them most of the time!

Cobi likes to sit in the tub, as long as soap isn't involved. Doesn't mind the water part, it's the bath part he hates. When we take him to the groomer, he decides when the bath is done, rinsed off or not. He has been known to walk out of the tub and stand by the door to go home. As for swimming, no soap, okay, soap no way!

Two of ours HATE the water, except to drink. Shelby LOVES it and will use the wading pool as a safe place from the others when they are playing and chasing each other.

Ruby hates water and anything wet. It's hard to even get her to go outside after it rains when the grass is wet. After a walk on a wet day she scratches to get back inside asap, and will go nuts and roll around even if just her feet are wet! And I won't even start on her baths!

Mick, Maggie and Jasmine stay as far away from the pool for garden hose as they can. One of the hot days I captured Maggie and put her in the pool with my husband. She enjoyed being wet after. But Jasmine was actually trying to climb the fence we have around the yard, so she wouldn't have to go in. It was funny...
