does toby need a companion?

Hi my 5 month old male Toby really shows what a well behaved dog he can be whenever he has been to the dog park and socialized with other dogs for a few hours, after this he is calm and moderately obedient. at other times he is a possessed demon running circles around our apartment all puffed up. i know it's because he is in his crate a lot during the day and is just acting out his frustration and needs to play. would another beagle be a good idea? i know beagle's are pack dogs and no doubt would love company. anyone else been through this situation and got another beagle? how did it work out?

Hi and welcome! Big day in Miami today, isn't it?

I'm not the expert on this but if Toby is routinely alone for a good part of the day, I think a buddy is a good idea.

I have one beag and two other (mixed brd) dogs and if it weren't for my other two, and knowing Henry the way I do, I think he would be very lonely.

Other suggestions for lonely beagles that have been made are: music or television left on for them to listen to, one of those Kong toys stuffed with yummy stuff to keep them busy and last but not least, doggie day-care (if it's feasible). A not-good thing to do is leave the dog with rawhide chews since choking is a risk with some of them.

Beagles do truly enjoy socializing.

Good luck.
