So, I take Marco out before I got to bed around 10:30-10:45. I also get up between 3-5 am to take him out again. I'll just open my eyes and figure I should take him out before I get up at 6:30am. He's 10 weeks now, should I not bother doing that? He always goes. I know he still peeing more than usual because he's still on the prednosone a little bit. Just wondering who gets up in the middle of the nite to take a puppy out.

Same with us, we always took Mary out when she woke up an cried (actually my boyfriend did because I never heard it^^).
But she slept through after a couple days. She´s been about 3,5 months then.

I would only take him out if he wants out or is awake and asking (crying or whining) to go out.

Ours got up once or twice in the night when they were little wanting to go out to go pee. They finally outgrew this. Part of the reason they wanted out was to play. After they were big enough for me to know they could hold it all night, I would tell them, No, go back to bed. They were just wanting to go out and play in the yard in the middle of the night.

Our 8 month beagle wakes up sometimes in the middle of the night and I take her out. Its weird though. She usually falls asleep in the couch around 8-9 and then around 10 I wake her up and take her out and then crate her. Last night we crated her at around 8:30 and around 10 I didn't want to wake her up and fish her out of the crate to take her out. I figured she would wake up in the middle of the night anyway. But she slept the whole night, I can't figure out the right combination to get her to sleep through the night, every night.

I never woke up for that. But then again, I'm on the 6th floor and as lazy as hell!!! I got Chloe at 13 weeks and she got the wee-wee pad thing in about a day or so, so she just went to the pad.
I wish I could get her to pee on the pad again for when I'm gone too long.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleye11.gif

Re: Does/did anyone take their puppy out during ni

Kioko sleeps through the night, but she wakes up when my husband wakes up...which is typically some ridiculous hour like 0430.

So. Yes, she has to go the MOMENT she wakes up. Kind of like people, I guess. hee hee. He takes her out to tinkle and then puts her back in her crate. Mornings he does NOT do this, she wets the crate.

So. I would say...don't wake him up to take him out. But...if he's waking you up, he probably still needs that extra night time trip. He'll grow out of it eventually, surely.

What do you mean, the toilet?
Just kidding, Eleanor /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
You actually got me there. I think "the whole 9 yards" affected me a little with Jinx using the toilet /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/coffee.gif.

Since the first night we got Duke, he has always slept through the night and never gets us up to go potty or anything else. But when he was younger, we knew that in the morning when we heard him wake up and heard the sound of "paws down", that meant we had to get up right away and let him out.

I usually take Daisy out around 10:30 when I go to bed, and then if my husband stays up later (usually around midnight or 12:30) he will take her out then. If that happens she will go all night, but if he goes to bed before I do or at the same time then I usually have to take her out between 2:00 and 4:00.

I used to get up in the middle of the night to take Spock outside. I've read beagle bladders get to where they can hold it almost at adult capacity when they're around 6 months, and probably when he was 5 months was when I could stop getting up in the middle of the night. At least, until Bones came along. That's a whole other story that's too long and too off-topic to relate here.

I never had a problem with Bailey. I am retired and had more time for him. I usually get up in the wee hours in the morning taking him out until he can hold it until he was 4 months old. He started sleeping in the bed with us after being in his cage until he was 7 months old and we were asleep with the bedroom door closed since my DH and I are hearing impaired he must've went to the door wanted to go out he must've found out i did not respond he climb back in the bed and came up to my face and breathe and woke me up and he was sitting looking at me and I said you need to go out and he jump down and wait by the door. He is 2 yrs old and 9 months and still let me know when he need to go out in the middle of the night but he has not for a long time because he can hold it until morning. He has never done anything in the house but 3 times since i got him when he was 7 weeks old.In the day time he will go to the door and wait and whine or bark to go out.

I got Beaglina when she was about 8 weeks and she needed to go out once during the night for the first month or so - but I used to let her tell me when she needed to go.

It doesn't often happen now, but this morning I woke up with that strange feeling of being watched... turn over and there's this very intent Beagle face about 2 cm away from mine, willing me to wake up!

I think I liked it better when she just cried and scratched... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
