We were browsing around a local pet store today and saw some of the cutest dog clothes.
When it was cold out, we bought JoJo a sweater, which she loved wearing.
Now that the weather is so hot, I've thought about getting her something like a thin t-shirt (or tank top) to help with the sun beating down on her black fur. But they were all so fru-fru! To me, beagles just aren't fru fru dogs. I've got to find her something more suitable for a beagle.

I saw some cute neckties (scrunchie-like collar with a little necktie hanging off of it). But they were more suited for a male dog.

Do you all dress your dogs? If so, where do you find your clothes? We don't want to go all-out, just give her something to keep the heat off her back. She gets so HOT lately.

Duke hates clothes. I can get him to wear a sweater when it's super cold, but that's the only time and it is such a pain to put it on him. Luckily, it only gets super cold here a few times in the winter. Violet doesn't mind, but Duke tries to take her sweater off!

I don't dress Maggie. She doesn't like the cold and we think that when she gets older she might need something for the cold part of winter. Sometimes I put a bandana on her if we are going somewhere special. She has one for July 4th, a Halloween one for Beaglefest, and a few others. She probably wears one a couple of times a year and doesn't seem to mind.

I only put clothes on my pups if they look like they really need it. I put a little jacket on Bones last winter, but she's put on weight and seems to have had a growth spurt over the last two months; she is almost as big as her brother now, so I don't think the jacket will fit her anymore. And now that she has more body weight (and body fat), she will probably be warm enough that she won't need clothes.

Yeah, I definitely am not looking to doll her up. I even saw some swimsuits today for dogs! And some of the other things, I kept thinking, There's no way a beagle would wear these for long.

JoJo actually doesn't mind her sweater during the winter, and it's a very neutral color. I was just thinking maybe a doggy t-shirt might help with her getting so hot (her back is all-black).
Just curious about whether or not anyone else can get their dog into clothes.

Sometimes in the winter ours will wear sweaters and fleece jackets (it is the Pacific Northwest after all - we all wear fleece jackets here...) - and they sometimes can get the chills if we are sitting out at a cafe on a clear but cold day and they don't seem to mind having an extra layer of warmth. I tried to get Booker to wear a yellow rain coat once but she absolutely refused to move forward while wearing it - not that she likes getting wet but I think she likes that better than a silly rain coat.

LOL, Aliesha! I never thought of it that way! So true.

One of my best friends has a female bulldog that she dresses all the time. Suzi (the bulldog) has an extensive wardrobe and wears velvet dresses, pearl collars, hoodies, swim suits, etc. It is hilarious to see this big old bulldog with her tooth sticking out in a ruffled dress.

My Maggie did exactly the same thing whenever I put any type of outerwear on her -- she would walk fine before it went on and then she would act like she couldn't walk even though her legs were not restricted in any way. Take it off and, amazingly, her legs worked just fine! Even when she was down to 16 lbs., had little fur and our temps dropped to the 30s, she refused to move with a coat on.

Daisy doesn't care what I put on her as long as it's not a hat. LOL!! But really we don't put anything on them other than a coat if it's really cold. I'd much rather put a coat on her than watch her shiver during the winter.
Rocky is pretty good about that too.

Oh, they also sometimes where little USF shirts during football games. LOL They really don't mind at all.

Other than that and halloween, they like to go around naked.

We haven't, and hubby doesn't want me to, but we'll see. It gets pretty cold here in the winter and I think it may be a good thing for Rocky to have a sweter of some kind. Seeing as we live in the suburbs, I will probably get him something to protect his feet from the salt too.

As for all the other clothes for dogs out there....I think it's stupid! No dog needs to wear clothes (dress, swimsuit...etc)and it's just a money grab. They're dogs...not people! Why else would God have given them fur??

OM Good ness, the boys would bolt! They had bandanas made for Christmas by their groomer, and that was about it. My dh and I were looking at clothes in WM one afternoon, and they were all on sale. I found a biker coat for Casie but didn't think he'd wear it. The clerk started to laugh at our discussion of clothes and the boys, he told us that everyone in the south dresses their dogs, all we want in the Dakotas, land of hunting was an orange or bright green vest...needless to say he didn't make a sale.

I dress Daisy in winter, if it's cold at night time, she has a few coats and jumpers that I put her in as she feels the cold.

I wouldn't dress her at any other time, especially in summer, as it can make them over heat. Their fur protects their skin from sun damage etc.

Here's Daisy in one of her winter jumpies, she looks like a gangster hound LOL
