[Tucker]

Last night I found a piece of peanut butter cookie on our bedroom floor. That is a rare occurance as anything edible doesn't last long if it is within reach of Tucker. Well Tucker had sacked out on our bed so I put the piece next to his nose. NOTHING Happened!!!!

He must have been really asleep. Usually he is up if there is even the hint of food. Unfortunately, that also meant that when it was time for bed, I had to remove 47lbs of dead weight from the bed. Why is it that a sleeping dog seems to weigh more than a awake dog?

I KNOW! try getting a 120 lb malamute to do anything he firmly is set against...mal's rank at the bottom of the list of trainable dogs and NOT because they are dumb (though bless him, simon wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack. i called him gomer because he had a brain like gomer pyle and a singing voice to match! he looooooved to sing at sirens...) it's because they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo willful. if i didn't get to the bed first i would get what was left after he laid sideways across the bed and makaella would take the rest!!!

so you would think a 28 lb beag would be no problem for this seasoned willful animal owner. WRONG!!! jack invariably grabs my spot and now, with a broken arm, he KNOWS he's got it made. he earned his devildog nickname!!! LOL!!!!

Better just leave him on the bed next time, and tucker him in! Does he sleep under the covers? Tink and Belle do, in the winter time, we can turn the heater down and save money! Almost enough to pay for their dog food every month! Duh-oh! Ok, we don't own Beagles just to save on our heating bills... Alas, I've tried to pick up Tinker when he was out like a light. Belle plays dead too when I go to pick her up and toss her in the shower. I swear they both feel like they weigh twice what the really do when they are awake..

Hehehehe, poor little dude was wiped! We have the same issues with moving the dead weight when ours are on the bed, even if they aren't asleep. They won't budge and all we want is a few inches so we can stretch out. Nope. We often find ourselves in the fetal position when we wake, with both beags and the cat all stretched out comfy on our bed!

 

[Tucker]

The problem with Tucker on the bed is he sleeps on top of the covers and so we don't get any. This is a problem in the winter. Sometimes if he insists on being there, we just put him under the covers and he gets out and goes to his own bed in about 15 minutes. He doesn't like covers. Occasionally in the winter if it is cold, we will put a blanket on him at night and he actually leaves it on. Only if it is cold. Next winter that may be the case a bit more because my job is moving us from Southwest Washington to Utah as soon as we can sell out house. It should be a lot colder there. He has seen snow a few times in his life, now he gets to live in it.
