Maybe I'm getting separation anxiety! I'm leaving Saturday back to Hong Kong. Got my suit case out packing, and Charlie had to sniff everything I put out. I sat down with him today and told him that I'll be leaving for 2 weeks and shall be back. He looked at me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
The sitter is the same one as last year, a home and only take care of one family each time + her own old english bull dog. $20 per day, I found it reasonable. The house with a hugh yard and very clean. A young lady making money to support her tuition. Everything should be fine, but why am I nervous? That lady replied my email telling me not to worry, Charlie will get excellent personal care.
Please please stop me from being so jittery. :conf12:

Oh, Rhoda, if Charlie got good care the last time this young lady boarded him, there's no reason to worry about his well-being while you're gone. I know it's hard to leave him for 2 weeks, but it sounds like he has a great place to go.

Relax, and have a great trip. Don't forget to take pictures to share with your friends at BW. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I understand how you feel. I boarded Maggie with my vet for one night. I have gone to this vet for 20 years and know everyone who works there and I still worried the whole time. It was worse than leaving my daughter overnight the first time.

I'm that kind of a mom that will walk in the school with my daughters every year just to make sure they won't get lost and find their way to their new class room. Until during the first year of high school, the teens looked at me strangely. And also my boss said to me, "mom, they know the school better than you!"
Well, this is my son. :hi:

aw, he will be fine I am sure. But I understand your anxiety. Marley has been boarded once already with his vet since we got him in July! We boarded him in September when we went away for my birthday. We are going to board him a second time at his vet later this month when we go away. He will be neutered at the same time and I am in a panic about leaving him with them for a few days during such a tough time. Ok, I could cry now. And I thought I was supposed to be helping make you feel better

It is so hard to let someone else be responsible for your baby, esp when you are so far away.

We have done this so much by now, it is crazy..we found a responsible doggie day care that is non crate, and someone stays there all the time!!!

and the best part, Snoopy LOVES it...so much..he is jumping up and down every time we take him there.

We have to overnight board him at least 3 times a month b/c of our work schedules, sometimes we are gone 12 hours..so we have to put him in...at first I felt really bad, but we do it so much now it isnt even a bit deal, more like a treat for him

You should be happy you found someone that will take Personal care for him...that is awesome, wish we could find that here for $20 bucks a night...are you serious??? WOW...day care cost more than that..

I called everyday to check up on Snoops at first, just to make me feel better..they must have thought I was crazy.

*HUGS* He will be fine, it is really harder on us than them...sounds like she is good and will take good care of him.

Oh we know the feeling alright. You have found a good place for Charlie so try and enjoy your trip, Charlie will be fine. I know its easier for others to talk but in a couple of weeks you will be wondering why you worried.

We have to leave our dogs with my mom for four days this December and I'm already worried about it, so I can completely understand how you feel! I don't think you have anything to worry about though, if you dog has already been to the sitter. We can't find any no crate places to take our dogs, since they are intact, that's why my mom will probably look after them, but her yard isn't fenced, which makes me very nervous.

Ok, the crate is in, the blanket, the dog food and his bowl. She said no toys, ok no toys.
What else? Am I losing my mind?
Trying to load everything in the car, ready to go. The last will be Charlie, off we go to the sitter. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Shhhhhh.....Can't imagine the house is soooo quiet without Charlie!
Some what scary!
Well, the dog sitter wasn't smiling. So I asked her, are you ok? She said she was feeling sick now she's tire. She wasn't that pleasant, maybe it is just the mom instance again. Everyone should be overjoy to see my child, right? :raspberry:  not happy.
I hope everything goes well with Charlie.

Hopefully you will be able to call and check on Charlie and get some good reports from your dog sitter on how he is doing. Sorry your dog sitter didn't act nicer when you dropped him off. I'm sure he will be fine.

We are leaving this Friday for our 10 day trip to Jamaica. We have a dog sitter that comes to our house. She has sat with Sadie and Pooh Bear several times and she has always done great with them. They have a lot of fun with her. She spends the night with them.

We have to pay half up front, and the last half when we get back.

Rhoda,

It seems like only yesterday that you were worrying about who to leave Charlie with when you went to Hong Kong. Time really flies, doesn't it?

Have you called the sitter to check on Charlie?

We all have our off days...I'm sure she is having one too.
