Last night, in the middle of the night of course, Ben starting making these really loud choking noises. He was taking air in and then forcing it out really hard and loud. He didn't hack anything up and he was lying down the whole time.

This lasted about 5-7 minutes and then stopped completely.

I swept is mouth with my fingers by couldn't find anything lodged in there. So I just rubbed his neck and patted his back.

He slept pretty well throught the rest of the night but was more whiney than usual this morning.

Anyone had this happen before? Anyone know what might have caused it?

Could it have just been the reverse sneezing we all see so often?

Thanks!

I just googled 'reverse sneezing dogs' and the description is exactly what happened to Ben last night. So glad he wasn't choking!

Definately a reverse sneeze. I find that if you can get them to shake their heads it helps to stop it.

That is funny about the head shaking. He kept shaking his head on his own while it was going on.
