Cold, wet, skinny boy needs some love!

My brother-in-law just called me from his police car.

He told me that he has a beagle in the back of his car.

He took an alternate route home this evening and found a cold, frightened, thin beagle in an industrial park. It is rainy and about 40F right now.

The poor thing has no collar (of course) and that's about as much as Chris can tell me at the moment. He is going to bring him home, put his dogs in the bedroom and bathe this little guy first thing.

If anybody is interested in giving this poor little guy a home...or knows somebody who might be...pass this on. Chris lives in the Richmond area of Virginia.

I'm not sorry that we have committed to taking Yodel but if the timing had been different, I would have taken this boy in a minute.

Any interest, please email me at [email protected]

Re: Cold, wet, skinny boy needs some love!

Thanks for being the voice of reason, Jamie. I scanned the Craigslist ads...no luck. Lost females, but no males. And lots of FOUND beagles.

Told Chris to get him scanned. And if he runs an ad, to let me know so that I can help him come up with one that screens for pretenders.

Just talked to Rocky who is on the road with a truck full of dogs-heading-for-new-homes, including Yodel. She told me about Brew Beagles and offered to pick him up and transport him on one of her upcoming runs. And Jeff and I could sponsor this little guy if a rescue takes him.

But if any great BW'rs were interested, that would be even better.

Oh Jamie,
You've got your hands full! But you were very sweet to consider taking him. I haven't spoken to my brother-in-law today since I've been shadowing Yodel. We'll talk to him this weekend, I'm sure.

Here is his photo...he has some kind of tissue tag on his eye...it looks like a huge tick but Chris says that it isn't a tick.

Re: Cold, wet, skinny boy needs some love!

My brother-in-law brought him to a "no kill" shelter in Richmond. I believe him but I can't help but be a little upset. I wish he could have taken the time to get him to a beagle rescue...there is one not that far from him.

I don't want to call Chris, he will sense right off that I'm unhappy with the way he handled it. I don't want to start anything with my inlaws.

Well, at least he got the little guy to a no kill shelter. That's certainly better than a lot of the alternatives. And, who knows, maybe he will be the only beagle and get chosen right away because he doesn't have any competition!!

Hope he finds a forever home really soon...

Re: Cold, wet, skinny boy needs some love!

UPDATE:

The "no kill shelter" that my brother-in-law turned this guy into turned out to be a "kill shelter". Before they did anything, the place called my brother-in-law to tell him that this guy was scheduled to be PTS.

My brother-in-law went and got him from the shelter and brought him home. He doesn't want to keep him. I've given him info on local rescues and all.

Anyway, if anybody is interested in learning more about this poor guy, I'll hook you up with Chris.

Oh NO! Tell your brother-in-law that a lot of people here think he is an angel for going back and getting this poor little guy.

Are any of the local rescues able to take him in???

Keeping my fingers crossed that this little guy finds a forever home...

I'm glad to hear that your brother-in-law went back for him. Even happier to hear that the shelter called him before doing anything! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hapfac01.gif Keep us posted on how things go. I tihnk that this is a sign that Chris should be keeping him. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

Stranger things have happened.

Chris is a little disenchanted with him because he insists on trying to hump his elderly pit-bull, KK. KK tolerated it at first then started warning him to back off but Boy can't take a hint.

Anyway, Boy is about 26-31 pounds, vetted and getting fixed tomorrow. Then we'll see where it goes from there.

Hopefully the neutering will take care of that and maybe Chris can keep him if the humping stops!

Keep us posted!

Hi Buffy!

That would be the ideal scenario. But I think the humping-hormones can hang around for quite some time.

But my fingers are crossed...how can Chris not love a beetle?
Especially one that came to him in such pitiful and sad shape.
