Ugh... I was trying to put this off, but Chloe is going in Friday for teeth cleaning and to have a another tooth extracted. Poor girl has had problems with this one tooth in the middle of her upper jaw since I got her. I'll spare the details, but it is very nasty and causing her pain. Before it gets any worse and causes her health problems, I'm having it pulled. Looks like soft dog food from now on!

Good luck...snoopy will be going in soon....I wish I would have listened to them a year ago when they told me I really had to be good about brushing his teeth...I was a horrible mommy and now the tartar is so bad, he has to get cleaned as well.

Any rec on how often to brush their teeth, what do you guys use as far as toothpate (we have perodontix??)

thanks

Yuck, that's salty (isn't that one for people anyhow?).

I brush Chloe's teeth every sunday, she has a poulty taste toothpaste.... she loves it :rotatesmiley2:

I do hope that I stick to it for the long run, so that she won't have to go through the vet cleaning

Here is hoping for a smooth surgery.

Also, please do have the blood check done for reactions to anesthesia prior to surgery. It costs a little more, but helps ensure there is no allergic reactions.
Thanks for all the well wishes!

We did the bloodwork already, in fact our vet requires it on animals over a certain age. My three are truly, truly blessed to have the best vets anyone can ask for. They are honest and always have their patients' best interests at heart. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif .

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I hate to report bad news but.... The vet called me this morning to tell me that Chloe had FOUR teeth that needed extraction. Two of the rearmost upper teeth, and two other upper teeth (including the "bad" one). He said that the two rear teeth were about to fall out! Too bad our fur kids can't talk--those had to have been painful! Looks like miss Chloe will be eating canned food from now on! She did pull through the surgery fine!

Going to focus on the good news that Miss Chloe came through the procedure with flying colors! Once she gets through the post-surgery blues, I bet she will be feeling great -- I know how I feel with a toothache -- can't imagine what our pups go through. There is lots of yummy canned food out there as well as soft treats. Gentle hugs and kisses from both of us!

Awwww, poor Chloe. Sending her lots of belly rubs from here as well. And I agree that you should focus on thinking how much better she is going to feel once she recovers from the surgery and doesn't have to deal with having all those sore teeth in her mouth anymore!
