Hi, everyone! We suspect that we have a good number of BW members who read the messages regularly but who do not post very often. Maybe that is because their lives are too hectic or maybe they do not feel very comfortable about posting new topics or answers to other members' questions.

It is perfectly understandable and acceptable for folks to only post here once in a while but, when we do not hear from people, many of us find ourselves wondering what those folks have been up to recently and how their pack is doing.

Checking in is a topic that we start on the first of each month where BW members can post to let everyone else know how they are doing. You may just want to say Hi! We are still here and we are doing fine or you may want to tell us more...either way we would love to hear from you!

Well I post often enough, but thought I would start this topic rolling.

Samuel Beagador is doing fairly well. He is having seizures that are a result of the cancer he is suffering from. If they increase in number or severity we will have to have him put down. It will be a sad day for us, but we do not want him to suffer. The tumor has definitely increased in size over the past couple of months so we are watching him closely. It's a shame the vet can't do something for him but she feels that removal isn't an option and she believes the cancer is too far into his system to have a good prognosis.

Jasmine is starting to wean her litter of pups. We have placed all but one of the pups so far. They will not be leaving until about Thanksgiving however so we have plenty more time for photos.

Maya and Tate are being their normal Beagly selves. Cute as ever and actually quite well behaved in comparison to Jasmine. They've got it made because if anyone does something wrong it is Jasmine that gets blamed since she is our little trouble maker. lol

Hope you all have a great November and stay warm.

Hello from Wyoming!!! Well, we had our first snow a few weeks ago and Blue was excited to see the 12 and played all afternoon. Of course today it is supposed to be in the 70's again. Welcome to Wyoming!!!

Blue graduated from obedience yesterday and in the 8 weeks of traveling back and forth, he was only sick once and we think he might have had a bug that day. Still drooling on the ride, but we can handle a little drool.

We had a scare three weeks ago when he wouldn't eat or drink and just wanted to cuddle, but when we touched him he would bite us. Turns out it was a muscle strain in his back, which was good, but we were terrified it was something more serious. He has two compressed vertebrae and apparently while jumping off of something one morning he pinched the nerve and strained the muscles. He was down for about three days, but is back to his normal happy go lucky self.

He had his one year checkup yesterday and everything was good other than he has a wart on his lip. We are going to watch it for two more weeks and if it hasn't started to go away the doctor will remove it. I noticed it during the back incident and it looked like a bite (which of course led us to know what was wrong with him when he was sick).

Hope everyone has a great November!!

Maria, Greg and Blue

Donna, sorry to hear about Samuel. It is hard to watch them go downhill. We did the same With Chipper, and like Samuel, there was nothing really that could be done for him. So we'll keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

Casie and Cobi are well, mom is frazzled.Winter is coming and we still don't have the potty outside thing down yet...omg! One blizzard, and I'm going to be making a bathroom for a dog!

Ah, well, beagles are great, and wouldn't have it any other way!

Cathy,
Cobi and Casie's frazzled mother.

I DO have a bathroom for the dogs. I've turned my basement bathroom (which is a very utilitarian space with concrete floors) into a bathroom for the dogs. Since I work and am not here to let them outside - and can't use a doggy door because if they go out they MIGHT bark, they're not allowed outside very much. So I line the basement bathroom with puppy pads. Since the floor is painted, it's easily scrubbed and disinfected, and it's a simple matter to pick up the pads and toss them. It's not an ideal solution, but it works here under the circumstances. Pads for 9 adult dogs gets pretty pricey - I spend about $40/week for them for a case of 100.

My sister basically does the same thing for her dog. Although she goes the less expensive route and uses newspaper in her downstairs bathroom. I am so glad that I work from home because I would just hate it if I had to ALWAYS confine my dogs in the house. With being home I can let them be free to come in or go out with the doggy door, until or unless the barking starts. At that point they are brought back in so we do not receive complaints from the neighbors.

Well I'm pretty new to this site but will definitely stay on board. I am Beagleless at the moment but that will change in about ten days time. I have my 9 year old black lab Charlie in the meantime. My children are constantly talking about the new puppy Bailey coming home and I look at Charlie and wonder what he will make of it all. He's a good dog so I'm sure it will be a happy household! After Bailey comes homes, I'll either be on this site 100 times a day asking questions, or not on at all because the little terror, oops did I say terror? The little darling will be keeping me busy, we shall see.
South Carolina is beautiful at the moment, beautiful fall colors and the weather is nice, not too hot, not too cold.
I see that there are a few members from the UK, well, I'm from London and moved to the states about ten years ago but still go back often, so any news from England via here is much appreciated, I do get homesick.

I have been busy lately, but I still can keep up with the board usually fairly well.

Duke and Violet are thriving, they just have so much fun together and Vi is non-stop action! Too much for Duke at times, which is so funny. They are a wonderful team and we love them. Now that it's getting cold, we realized Vi likes to snuggle under the covers, it's so funny watching her tunnel her way down. Duke does not like the cold and many evenings, he heads back to snuggle on the warm down beddings. Of course, our version of cold hasn't been any lower than 50 degrees yet! Duke would never make it in the Midwest (but then, neither would I).

Phoebe is warming to Violet a little, though she still hisses and spats when Violet howls at her. It's pretty funny.

Cassie is getting up there and it's going to be a hard winter for her. I am seeing the signs from her arthritis and displasia start to get worse. She has some lumps that we are pretty sure are cancerous. The vet said we could do biopsies, but she's almost 13 and she thinks the trauma wouldn't be worth it because if it is cancer, there is nothing we can do about it. There are multiple lumps, which means it's spreading. She also has pancreatic and heart issues, so we are just making her comfortable and watching for signs of serious decline. As long as she still has days where she chases the beagles around the yard, wanting to play, then we're still good. Dave says as long as there is food here, she's not going anywhere. LOL

Hi everyone, came back from a one week trip to Toronto and New York. My youngest daughter been taking care of Charlie, seems fine. A few damages, chewed daddy shirt, a bathroom rug and a gift certifate through the mail. Charlie sorted the mail for us this time.
Weather is changing, Charlie is reluctant to go out to the yard in the morning.
Hope Cassie feels comfortable. As long as she still feels like a dog should be, she is fine. Just like Marlin, we did not do anything to his cancer. We let him leave us as whole with no more suffering than it should. Thanksgiving is here again, what's cooking folks?

Present and voting! It's been a busy summer and fall ... we moved to WI from Calgary, AB, Canada in late May, spent a good part of the summer in Florida just chilling, been travelling some more in October, busy busy busy! We're home for the foreseeable future, hooking up with a local rescue to help out with fundraising, transports and the like.

Agnes, Bailey, Dugan & Buddy are doing awesome. No worries there. Snoopy is our latest addition and we are so thankful that he has accepted us as his forever home and family. There is work to be done to get him to full health so we will concentrate on that for the moment.

Hope everyone is well and wishing the happiest of holidays to all the beagles and their families out there!

Hi Everyone! I havent checked in in a while and thought Id write a quick blurb to check in.

Copper graduated from Basic Training last month. He did so well! The trainer said that Copper was the cutest and best behaved beagle she had ever seen! (My husband wondered later if she says that to all her Beagles!) But we are so happy with the results. Even though Copper still doesnt like to come when called, (my understanding is that this is typical for a Beagle) we have really bonded, and he has really settled down, and the socialization has caused him to behave much better around people and other other dogs. (Although he had a really hard time with all the trick or treaters coming to the door on Halloween dressed in scary costumes! YIKES!) Our 9 year old, Sarah, has started 4-H with Copper and that is going well too. Things are so much better now than even a few months ago - I so appreciate everyones encouragement to hang in there with all the housebreaking issues! WE have now become a happy family!

Hi all! Just wanted to check in for Nov. I try to get on when I can but it just doesn't happen nearly as often as I wish! Boomer and Jersey had some company tonight - a 4 year old and 7 year old kid. Since DH and I don't have children yet they were very excited to have young ones to run around and chase. But I think it was a little too much for them and they were glad to see the kids leave! Jersey got a little over excited and had an accident on the carpet. That never happens! Grrr...poor doggie!

No matter if they are pets or hunting dogs you have a feeling for your hounds, when something happens to them you feel a sick that won't heal. No you can't replace a great friend with another you must get over your lose and them move on.

We have about 5 inches of fresh snow for TG & the girls and I just love it. My fx arm from last March has made a 98% recovery. Now if I can just stay perpindicular to the
