Well, I had to work today and when I got home, my husband had quite the tale to tell. I guess he went outside, and Casey came running up to him with a dead squirrel in her mouth. He isn't sure if she killed it or found it, but she would not give it up. He said it was as if she thought it was a squeak toy. She kept chomping on it to get it to make noise and couldn't figure out why it didn't. Sorry I know it's gross. Anyway she wouldn't give it up until he came out with treats. I guess they were better than a non squeaking squirrel. I am just glad he got to dispose of it and not me. I hope she has decided this to be her last and final conquest. By the way, Hunter could not have cared any less about this squirrel.

Hmm...wonder if she really caught it. I think Ginger would love to catch one...she "hunts" them all the time in our backyard. Ginger's favorite part of her toys are the squeakers too...she would probably do the same thing if she caught something.

Murphy (in his prime) nailed 2 birds and a squirrel. Summer, not to be out done, got 2 birds, a squirrel, and a rabbit. The rabbit I actually saw her catch and kill. That rabbit never knew what hit it.

You have to remember, they are hunters and they are animals (no matter how much they are family).

Good girl Casey!! He he Although I know how distressed we were when ours used to catch squirrels. I was always afraid our dogs would get bit by a squirrel. And sure enough Pooh caught a squirrel and it turned around and bit him on the nose. He yiped and let go of the squirrel. The squirrel ran under our shed. Our doggies ran to the shed and circled it and barked and dug at the edge. I came home from work to this wild scene in the back yard with hubbie laughing. I told him that we had to get the doggies inside and that squirrel out from under the shed or we would never have peace again. So we put the doggies inside against their will, and got some long rakes and tried to coax the squirrel out. Finally we got him out and he limped off and climbed a tree and got away at last!!!

They're so proud when they do what they're really meant to do! A while back, Li'l Girl finally caught a squirrel, and she carried it around all over the big fenced area. :animal18: Dusty finally had to take it away from her when she and Traveler were going to have a tiff over it.
