Today I got Bodie a big rawhide bone. I noticed on the label is says not recommended for use on carpet. The bone is light colored and doesn't have any other material inside.

I've seen bones with red rawhide intertwined with regular color rawhide. Those I could see bleeding and possibly staining your carpet. But not an all natural one.

Has anyone experienced a regular rawhide bone staining their carpet?

I haven't seen the regular rawhide doing it, but I would imagine if there is a warning...there is a reason. I personally thought the light colored rawhides were bleached to get that color. Maybe it would bleach out your carpet instead. Who knows. I don't usually give my dogs rawhide because it causes them to fart. Maybe others have more experience with their dogs.

I've bought some of the flavored raw hide bones that did leave a stain behind. Where these chicken flavored maybe? I had them chew them on a towel.

I've never had a rawhide stain anything, except for the artificially colored ones. I have had rawhide drool and rawhide goo deposits on carpets making them look discolored. That can be either scraped off, or washed off. I'm guessing that's what the warning is about.

Do supervise your dog with rawhides -- small pieces, or too much eaten at at time can be dangerous.

I always got the large rawhides, and had lots of entertainment as Lucy and Flora had to figure out just HOW to chew it.... One bone Flora balanced on one end, and chewed the other while standing up!

I worry more about Ruby leaving saliva stains in the corners of the room, from her licking out treat balls. She'll lick for an hour in one spot and leave a nice puddle of spit. Eewww!

I gave Molly rawhides once, she lost interest quickly. Maggie, my lab has had them and will chew on them until her teeth bleed. I wonder if that might be the stain you are seeing. As a practice, I no longer give them rawhides because a friend of mine's dog had to have stomach surgery to remove them. It seems they are not easily digested.
