I made the appoinment to get his back checked out so I put him in his kennel in the back of the SUV. On the way there I heard a funny noise coming from the back and when I opened up his kennel to take him out I noticed that he vomited. :pukey: It was a liquidy, mucousy yellow. He's only been car-sick once before.

I took him inside the vets office and he vomited again on the floor. :pukey: Okay...odd. Once we got inside the examination room he ran around in cirlces then pooped on the floor. Sorry this is gross, it was loose and mucousy. Just then the vet came in. She checked him over and said that he has some discomfort in his lower back and he has loose kneecaps. Since he's a wee bit overwieght this is adding to his pain. So he needs to lose wieght. He's already on low carb Innova food and we walk him daily, plus he runs around in the yard. He might have a thyroid problem. As we are talking about this...he vomits again! :pukey: And it's foamy! The vet says that she is worried about his tummy, more so than his back. If she put him on anti-inflamitorys (sp?) it would upset his belly, which is already upset. So we need to heal his tummy first then deal with his weight and back and knees.

He needs to be on a bland diet so I boiled some ground beef and cooked white rice. But the vet says he shouldn't eat until tomorrow morning if possible. Ya right! He's a Beagle! He'll eat the furniture! When I give him his pills tonight I'll mix it in some food as a bedtime snack. Well if he's going to get sick the vet's office is the place to do it. But we can't walk him tonight because he may pass on his illness to other dogs. So we're playing in the yard tonight.

In case anyone is wondering, he is on 250 Amoxil, 250 Metronidazole, and Sulcrate.

Sorry about little Cesars's discomforts.

And welcome to the "Fat Beetle" club. Henry had some mild back pain a while back. Nothing really obvious on exam by the vet but he does need to loose weight. Sigh....

Poor Caesar! I'm sorry to hear he's not doing too well. I hope he's feeling better soon.

Oh, and Amber was a member of the "Fat Beagle Club" as well. Her max weight was close to 40 lbs. Way too high for a Beagle/Cavalier Mix. :rolleye11:

We've got a member of the Fat Beagle Club too - Booker is solidly over 35 pounds most of the time and at her heaviest was 39... she has been down to 30 pounds a couple of times but tends to stay around 35...

Moosie and Popcorn are both creeping up there too, but I wouldn't say they are members just yet...

Well he certainly does act sick! He's his usual active beagly self, no more vomiting. And he's getting lots of belly rubs. Thanks everyone!

He loves the beef and rice so we're thinking about keeping him on it permanently. I'll ask the vet if that's okay.
