A lot of you will have read my stories about Bilbo and Spotty. Both lived to be nearly 14. First Bilbo, who came to us from a desperate single mother. Bilbo had demolished her house. We had many happy eventful years with Bilbo and she was notorious for stealing in our village. She was the only beagle we ever allowed to run free and that came to an end when the local game keeper warned us he would shoot next time he saw her. So Bilbos days of bringing home food people had prepared for grilling, toys, carpets and even gloves from the local fire brigade, were over.
Spotty arrived two weeks after Bilbo died. Another rescue. She never had her freedom but was still a born thief, managing to steal a whole camenbert in a French restaurant
We'll never forget them or my first dog, a beagle-cross called Trixie. She also made it to 13.
