My little man, Duke, was feeling poorly for a few days. Nothing intense, just some occasional vomiting and not quite his normal energy level. Then Thursday night, he was really sick and threw up quite a bit and pretty lethargic that night and yesterday.

I took him to the vet yesterday. She thought it was important to do a full chemical panel on him. I have always had a fear of kidney disease because twice as a pup, Duke ate things that were toxic and had to be treated at the ER vet. They told me it could effect his kidneys and to wait until he was 2 to have him neutered and then get the kidneys checked beforehand.

So when the vet heard his symptoms, knew his history, and I told her he was drinking and urinating more than usual, she thought it was very important to check his kidneys. We also have problems with mushrooms in the yard and though I constantly search them out, you never know.
I spent all last night as a basket case, worried about the worst case scenario.

This morning she called (she rushed his tests and got the results at 8 this morning) and his blood work was all perfect! She said everything was wonderful and the only thing was his urine was a little dilute, but he may have drank more because of feeling crummy or the 100 degree temps we had. So he is fine! He just has what is basically the tummy flu. And today, he is back to almost normal. She had given us nausea pills yesterday, so no vomiting since Thurs. night.

I am so relieved. And the good part is, now we have the blood work done for his neutering, so I can get that scheduled asap. I was a little afraid to do the testing and this incident forced me into it, so I'm grateful it all turned out so well. He's still on a bland rice-chicken diet, but he loves that, so it's all good! Needless to say, all our babies have gotten tons of extra love and hugs today! Whew!

Good to hear Duke is o.k. It can be so scary when they don't feel good. I just wish they could say, nah, mom, I'm o.k. I just ate something bad! The guessing game and vet trip is so stressful.

Great news, Duke is official back to 100% Duke! And though based on past history, this should scare me, I could not be happier! Yesterday he was much more active and today he is at full speed, trying his best to make up for being out of commission for so long. LOL

Thanks to all for your well wishes.
