Best food for poop eaters

Hi. I am new to this. I am wondering if anyone knows of a particular brand of dog food that is good for a female beagle who eats dog poop? I have read that this behavior can stem from an insufficient diet. Thank you for advice in advance.

Poop eating is very common in beagles and usually isn't because of food. It's very gross to us but kind of natural to them but not a good habit because they can get worms. We have had many poop eaters over the years and the best way to curb it is to be out there with them to tell them "no" and then scoop in up immediately. You can try calling them away from the poop and rewarding them with a treat if they leave it.

Mollys Mom already gave the best advice. Keep your girl on a leash, if necessary, for potty time. As soon as she poops, move her away. Quickly scoop up. Believe me (and Mollys Mom). Nothing else will work.

Just to clarify... Is she is only eating her poop? I never had an issue with my dogs being interested in eating another dogs' poop. Cat and rabbit poop? That's an entirely different story. LOL!

Thanks for your response. She eats her own poop and our other dogs poop. She might possibly eat other animal, poop parentheses (like deer), as we live in a rural setting.

Ugh! Never had an issue with a dog eating other dogs' poop. Guess you have to clean it all up right away.
My dogs always loved bunny poop. I did my best to keep them from eating cat poop. My dogs were always on Heartgard for heartworm prevention. It takes care of most other worms too. Doesn't cover tape worms.
I am in the same boat with Molly (7 months old). She is my first poop eating dog. She immediately turns around to eat her poop. I read this is instinctual because in the wild a canine would eat their own poop to cover up where they have been to keep prey away. I am feeding her a very high nutritional value food (although it is kibble). She goes for any poop, not just her own (which in a way blows away the poop to cover trail theory). She is very mouthy - she will pick up and chew anything and everything her path and if not in her path, she seeks it out. I have a poop bag on me constantly picking up other dog's poop too. She tries to eat flowers, leaves, mulch, berries - you name it. I have to have all eyes on her every minute she is not sleeping (and yes, cabinets, stairs, walls - she is a big chewer and thinks it's great fun). She is also very extroverted and loves exploring so that may add to her interest. I feel your pain!
