folks, can we talk here a moment? please?
bernie has this reverse sneezing think ok.
im pretty much convinced he has this thing on a switch. does it when he wants to.let me explain

ok here we are, its my day off and for this time of year, its beautiful weather out. sunshinning,theres birds, spring is almost here. so i figured it would be fun for bernie and i to go to the park. get him out, let him go do beagle stuff.off to the park we go. we're out and bernie is reading and leaving pee-mail as we go. theres few people and a few joggers too. i look up the way and there she was, jogging this way! OMG!
ms beautiful in all her glory headed this way.

Just loved that! He obviously wants to keep you for himself.
We dont do anything when they get this reverse sneeze, it always goes away despite sounding terrible. All four of our beagles have had it.
The first 2 lived to be 14, so we ignore the problem with Susi and Snoopy.

All you need to do is gently pinch shut his nose until he starts licking. That will break the cycle. You also might consider talking to youe vet about getting him some allergy meds. I really cuts down on the reverse sneeze. I just never thought it could improve someone's love life.

That story was funny (I'm sure you don't think so). Lucky rarely ever has a reverse sneeze and when he does, it's only for a few seconds. I can't believe that girl freaked out like that! You don't need someone who can't appreciate bernie and his special reverse sneeze! Hehe. Can't stop laughing... :rotflmao:

Go Bernie! I rub Tippi's throat for a few seconds when this happens and that seems to stop it. In fact its gotten to the point that when she feels one coming on she comes looking for me and I automatically rub her throat. She's a wonderful people trainer.

Our beagles are absolute comics! It's obvious you have the sense of humor to appreciate Bernie's antics. He's just helping you find the PERFECT girl to appreciate his Beagle-ness... :thumbup:

Bernie just knew that something wasn't right about that girl! :hi: He was just trying to keep you from being heartbroken. :hi: Silly Beagle! Jersey does the reverse sneeze frequently and like Shiloh she'll wake us all up in the middle of the night doing it. You've got to do something to make him swallow. I hold Jersey's nose so she has to breathe through her mouth and rub her throat. Even offering a treat helps because it makes her swallow.

ok folks thanks so much for your inputs on the reverse sneezing. i'm gonna try these things and see if it works.(maybe i should go pull the Q tips out of beag's nose) theres plenty more stories to come about this dang hound. hes really one of a kind. yeah, maybe bernie was trying to warn me about this lovely fine U.S.D.A....... ok never mind. but honestly, i find it hard to take advice about love from someone who chases their own a$$. know what i mean? :animal18:

Thanks for the morning laugh, RC. As for the backward sneeze, I once read an article on a website and it said to cover the beagle's nose firmly when there's a bout and scratch the dog's chin and throat at the same time. I did as suggested and it worked. So now whenever Boeing starts to sneeze backward, I do that and it stops in a few seconds. I don't know if there's any other way.

Funny, funny story!!!! Yes, it is embarrassing when they do their reverse sneeze in front of those that don't know what it is.

But as suggested by someone else just carefully pinch their nostrils together, and they will swallow and it usually stops it. Or I rub gently along the top of their snout and talk calmly to them. Pooh Bear hates getting this. We call it snorking. He thinks he is dying I think when it happens. He lays down and has a terrible worried look on his face.
