I thought that I had read somewhere that it is ok to give dogs children's Benedryl? Anyone know what the dosage might be? Max seems to have the same allergy that my previous dachshund had to grass. He's chewing himself to death on his feet and stomach where he can reach (poor short dog). Ben had a prescription for his allergy, but if Benedryl works just as well I'd rather use it because it's cheaper.

Yes, you can give children's Benadryl to your dog.
The dose for benadryl is 1mg per lb (3 times a day).

I use the adult Benadryl (CVS brand) and give Molly 1/2 of a pill. She does fine with that.
