Hey folks, it's been a while since Phil and I were last on, almost a year I think. So I figured we should reintroduce ourselves.

Philly is my Beagle boy of about 1yr 5mth. He's been through 3 levels of obedience but still thinks he is in charge from time to time (who's beagle doesn't though).

He does however have some possible liver troubles which we are still working with the Vet to solve. I'l post more on this in the other forum.

Here is a few recent photos of Phil.

Welcome again. Hey Phil, My Bagel agrees that blind obedience is overrated /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Seriously, there hundreds of generations of breeding to bring out the independent thinking in a hunting dog intended to hunt unsupervised. Beagles aren't herding dogs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Hopefully you and your vet can soon resolve Phil's liver problems. Love the pics, Welcome Back!

Welcome! We're new here too but already addicted. And I agree with the others that the beagles' lack of "blind obedience" is one of the things that makes them special. I love it when I can see our gang actually weighing up the pros and cons of various options before deciding what to do... which is usually whatever option will get them the most food! I think that is a much greater measure of intelligence than just doing everything you ask - although probably a lot more frustrating too!

Phil's a handsome fellow! You didn't say what type of liver problems Phil might have, but when my Traveler had extremely high liver enzyme counts, Jen, another BW member told me about her vet's treating Snickers with milk thistle and Vitamin E.

Thats interesting, I'll have to look for those threads. I've posted a brief tidbit on Phils liver.
