I received this email from my local beagle rescue center, Beagles & Buddies, located here in Southern California. Please help oppose the vet services tax to help keep this shelter open. All it takes is a phone call.
Below is the letter I received:
If a proposed state tax of 8.25% on vet care passes, we would not be able to afford vet visits and this would greatly affect how many lives we can save annually. In addition, pet owners facing economic hardship will no longer be able to afford proper pet care and more animals will likely be surrendered to shelters. If we can't save a dog, then animal control is forced to house and eventually euthanize them. And guess who pays for that? You, the taxpayer!
Homeless pets shouldn't be punished for the state's poorly balanced budget.
You can help.
Please call the Governor's office automated answering service and follow these easy steps. It will only take a few seconds!
1. Dial (916) 445-2841
2. Press 1, 5, 1, 2 (It's an automated system so you can press the numbers one right after the other)
Here's what those numbers mean:
1 = English
5 = Veterinary tax proposal
1 = Respond to veterinary tax proposal
2 = Oppose the tax
Thank you,
The B&B Team
