House training is tough I must agree, but to ease things up crate is the best solution. 11 months old might have a little tough time crate training, he might cry in the crate.
Are you home most of the time? One way to train him is to leash him along where ever you go in the house, tag him along. That way you can see when he circle around himself, pick him up immediately and out the yard he goes. Yes, I didn't try this way, although Charlie's trainer taught us. Too much hassle.
I trained Charlie with two bells hanging on the patio door at his height. Rub his nose against it several time before I let him out, at the same time saying to him "go pee pee, good boy"
Couple times doing it, he picked it up already.
Good Luck.
