Hey, I am not sure what to do with my beagle while at work. I use to let him run the house but I just moved into my new condo and do not trust him with all my new furniture. Should I keep him in his cage or what someone help me please

Lucy and Flora did full days in their crates, and they were fine. We had a few rules, however.
They could not be in the crates for more than 8 hours. My husband and I staggered our start times at work to ensure this would be the case.
They got lots of exercise morning and evening.
We bought each of them a kong, and stuffed their breakfasts in them. That gave them a project for at least part of the day.

After my first maternity leave, they got the run of the house. After being home with them for that long, I knew they mostly just did napping tours of the house.

I have the same dilemma with Java. Should I let him have the run of the house and risk having potty on carpets and rugs? Or will I find chewed up wires? Or maybe he'll nap all day? I decided on dedicating a tiled room just for him to play in all day while I'm at work. Sure, he protests while I'm on my way out, but it's relatively easy to clean up after him and he isn't in a cage/crate for the 11 hours I am away.

We used to keep Duke in our bathroom during the day. He did get let our for an hour around lunchtime, though.

He's matured enough now to get free run of the house, but, like Java said, a tiled room is a good alternative until you can feel comfortable letting him run loose.
