has anyone had disc problems with their beagle? my vet says they are common. before surgery he stood with his head pressed into a corner and trembled badly.after surgery and a month recuperation he is good as new

Awww - glad to hear he is feeling better. Our eldest beagle had back surgery (on the disks in her neck) back in 2002 when she was 5 - she is 13 this month and still going strong and hasn't had any further problems in the area following the surgery. She did have a bit of pain further down a few years ago, but she was kept on reduced activity for 6 weeks and that seemed to resolve the problem without needing surgery, thankfully.

Hi ,I was wondering how you manged on the crate restriction after surgery. I am having problems with my Molly and I just hate seeing her so sad looking all the time.I have tried many things too many to list so I am hoping for suggestions on helping her to cope.

E.B. was miserable in the crate. he couldn't settle down always spinning circles and scratching at the bedding. I bought some wire fencing and made a circle about 7' in diameter just big enough for him, his food and water, and for me to lay with him sometimes. i put a piece of old carpet in for him to lay on and he never scratched at it or spun circles just laid right down. he seemed content in the small pen. too small to run or jump or play in, so he would just lay quietly.
