Tucker is starting to show signs of arthritis. He is 8 years old now and he is being more cautious when jumping off things (couch, bed, etc.) He also shows signs that one of his back legs is sore after he has been inactive for a while. After he walks on it a bit he is fine. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good joint supplement that they use? There is so much out there so it is hard to know what you are getting. Our previous dogs had arthritis really bad so they were on derramax but we want to avoid that stuff because it is real hard on them. Anyway, any suggestions on what to use?

We started Booker on Recovery SA at the vet's suggestion two years ago when she was 10 and exhibited a lot of the signs you are talking about with Tucker. It has been AMAZING and I would recommend that anyone try it. Absolutely no side effects that we have every seen, and within days ALL of her symptoms were gone. My brother saw her after she had been on it for a couple of weeks and without knowing what had changed said that the sparkle had come back into her eyes. Two years later she continues without any of the old symptoms. I also recommended it to a friend with an arthritic australian shepherd and it has also worked wonders with her - before they started using it they had her on Metacam every day just to keep her going, now they only use Metacam when she is clearly sore and their last bottle lasted a YEAR. It is a Canadian product but is available online - www.recoverysa.com. I can't stress how strongly what a difference it has made to Booker's quality of life.

Our vet suggested Glucosamine/Chondroitin in doggie doses for Chipper when he got arthritis in his back joints. He also gave us some DMSO --- which stinks like burned garlic, but that really worked. Now Cobi our 8 year old is showing signs of arthritis in his front legs, so we are thinking of the same treatment. Our dog group is having a Dog Massage demonstration on Monday, I'll let you know about it after we've been. It seems to help with arthritis, calming them down, relaxation and just plain loving them up.....can't hurt, well, I hope not

Our Misty's 14, and has some arthritis. She does pretty good, though, for a dog her age. I've given her glucosamine for several years. Also, she's been taking Dermaxx for several years. It's never had any ill effects for her. I am careful to only give it to her with food. Don't know if that makes a difference, but that's how I was told to give it when it was first started.
