Menolly howled for the first time this morning! I was outside when I heard this 'Barooooooo!' I jumped about a foot in the air and thought for a minute that it had to be a neighbors' dog...then I remembered I had a Beagle in the house. I came inside to check on her, and her hackles were up.
I have no idea what or who she was howling at, as I could see nothing.

But...! My baby finally howled!

My Marley started howling for the first time this summer. All the young kids couldn't wait for the loud dog with the funny bark to be let out to play! After she has greeted someone for the first time, the howl changes pitch. I can tell who is walking by the house by the tone and quiver in her voice. I've been thinking of teaching her vocal scales LOL

Fin only howls when he's voicing displeasure. If I'm not paying attention, or I take away something he's chewing on that he shouldn't be and stuff like that. It's funny too because I'll be trying to discipline him for chewing my flip-flops or something then he breaks into a howl and I can't keep a straight face. My stern No isn't as effective if I'm laughing during it.

Lots of people who do Agility with love watching Rasha run because she Arrrooooo's around the whole course. One judge came up to me after one run, she said that it is impossible to judge Rasha. She was laughing so much she had tears in her eyes and could not see if she ran the course correctly. Rasha did run the course correctly and won on that occasion.

I love the way they howl, it brings a smile to my face everytime.

I love it when my pack howls in unison - neighbors don't take it so kindly though. Mine usually bay if they're upstairs and I'm outside - they let me know that I'm supposed to be with them IF I'm home. It is music to a beagler's ears! I love it.
