Remember Sadie has a herniated disk in her back. We have been taking anti-inflammatories and rest as treatment.

We were on a 3 week schedule of taking Prednisone. The first 7 days she was to take 2 pills a day, the second 7 days she took 1 pill a day, and the last 7 days, we were to give her a pill every other day. We have tried twice now to go to the last 7 day schedule where we give a pill every other day. The day that we give no pill, she has been extremely stiff and in pain. We have wound up giving her the pill to keep her out of pain. Consulted with the vet again. We need to try to wean her off the Prednisone now. Here is our new plan from the vet. This is a 7 day plan. Day 1 - Prednisone, Day 2 - Rimydyl, Day 3 - Prednsone, Day 4 - Rimydly, Day 5 - Prednisone, Day 6 - Rimydly, Day 7 - Prenisone. Then hopefully only Rimydly when needed after that. And we are to give her 1 Tagament each day to ward off stomach upset.

She is doing great. But she does great while on meds. If the meds stop she gets stiff and painful. So we'll see how this goes.

thanks Ricksconnected. I'll keep you in mind. We are still hoping to avoid surgery as she does not have any neurological impairments from this.

Thank you for the update! Sadie honey, my prayers continue.....I'm hoping for a miracle.
I know your mommy and daddy must be so worried, and I know you're all tired of the restricted activity.....but there's still hope for a recovery.

Hang in there, Mof2! It sounds like you have a great vet to work with which is half the battle in keeping our pups healthy. Hopefully, the new plan will help you to wean Sadie off the prednisone. Gentle hugs to Sadie!

She is full of herself this afternoon. Today is a Prednisone day. We think it makes her hyper and very hungry. She is sitting here at the computer chair I am sitting in barking and whining at me. She wants a Milk Bone dog bisquit. She is feeling very good today. Too good for a doggie that is supposed to be taking it easy. She is definitely tired of taking it easy. But if she over does it she gets stiff. So take it easy we must.
