Goober learned how to be calm on a trip from Duke! But the vet
might have overreacted by his nervous "dripping" of urine! I told
them that the first time of this happening was last summer when
he tried to "hold-it" on the ride back to the dock after fishing
a full day! And thank goodness I spread a few old sheets on the
rear seat of my car after the battery in my old pick-up was dead!
This was his first ride in my car To get his rabies shot. But on the ride home I placed the sheets on the passenger front seat &
he "enjoyed riding shotgun" enough that "piddling was not a
problem" & has not been since! Sure as a puppy, he "drooled" on
my bed, in his sleep, but NEVER peed on it even as he is about to turn 16! Goober has had a tough act to follow with our previous beags...but he is now "the standard" to compare with any future beags! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yell.gif

I keep telling Lucy and Flora to be like Goober and Bob's Bagel, but they just tilt their heads and ignore me.

Thanks "LM"! I tried to add a post here yesterday, butjustasI was
about finished..."msn crashed on me! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukey.gif I was wondering
if anyone else had a problem with "seniour dripping" as this has
only happened twice in Goobers life, & both times were clearly
stress-related! (Even when Goober was twice affected by an inner
ear type problem he managed to use the dog door to go potty)! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif
Fully recovered from that he still greets me with the "zoomies"
& jumps up on me for a neck scratch & head pat when I come home!

My older lab, Cassie had the problem twice, but both times were at the vets when she was in stress because of her infected paw. My senior male can still go forever without going out to potty. We worry sometimes that he holds it too long, but he'll let us know when he needs to.

Good for Goober for proving that old age doesn't have to slow anybody down. You can make it past 20, Goober!

Thanks Zookeeper! Them Labs are are just giant cousins of beags,
but as I have heard...some tend to be soo friendly that they make
for poor guard dogs as they will love anyone that says a kind
word to them! Labs are known as "lickadores" here & are possibly
the best breed in use for familys with young kids! (I met my
share of them when I owned an hvac business..."Beagle Heating")!
Beags are a bit more skeptical though & often require their
owner to introduce them to a new person like the "meter reader"!
But thanks to new technoligy, the meter reader only has to drive
by to read our meters! (But "our boy's" still enjoy chasing
away the "bad guy") by barking & Arrooing that a stranger has
"entered their space"! (Goober is still-up for this)...but he now
lets Homer make "first contact"...& joins-in to Aroo & bark when
strangers are on the property! (Goober is the perfect,"Good ol

Snoopy dribbles when excited, nothing much. He floods the kitchen with drooling though, when I'm getting their food ready!! Talk about mouth watering.
Glad to hear Goober can still join in the fun of meter-man chasing.
NR, please get a camera, we long to see photos of your boys.

Btw, Homer-the-Huge is the only hound to "drool" for his supper!
He never met Duke...yet he "nearly" acts like him @ suppertime!
(Even adopted soup-hounds) that have been raised by beags learn
to act like them! He is the rescue puppy that Goober mentored
after he turned 10, but did not turn out to be the fierce hunter
that Goober was...BUT, Homer has proved himself as a great guard dog for my home! Despite my efforts to train him as a hunting
companion..."he is lost without his elder beag companion"!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yay.gif Soo, my best friends will have to dawg-sit
them when Pop & I go hunting like they did last year! I fear that Homer will grieve like Rufus did after Duke died when Goober
