Ok... so I had a disgusting discovery when I came home today. If you remember, I posted a few days ago that Daisy had some of her episodes this past weekend. Sometimes when that happens and she eats a bunch of grass, she ends up with diarrhea a few days later. Yesterday I came home for lunch and she was fine. Today I decided to work through lunch because I had to leave work early to take both pups to the vet for their yearly heartworm check. Apparently today she decided she was going to have an issue.

Now, the majority of our house here is hard floor. The only carpet is a few area rugs. Well we recently borrowed my sister-in-laws Roomba vacuum and set it to run during the day. Well... you can probably see where this is going.

When I opened the door to the house from the garage I could smell that one of them (99.999% sure it was Daisy) had a #2 accident. I was expecting to see a small pile somewhere, probably a little diarrhea. Since we have hard floors it's not really the end of the world. I just clean up and mop with an anti-bacterial cleaner.

So I walk in and I see that the entire dining room is covered with smeared poo! The Roomba ran at it's regular time and ran right over the poo, dragging it EVERYWHERE. There was even some on the base boards, the dining room floor, one of the edges of one of the dog beds, the kitchen, part of the living room, and part of the office. It was also on portions of the area rugs and door mats. I was SOOOOOO upset! Not at Daisy, it's not her fault. Just frustrated because I needed to clean but didn't have time to finish because I had to go to the vets office. ARRRGGHHH!!!!! And there is poo ALL over the Roomba. I don't know if it's salvageable or not... At least the house is starting to smell fresh again.

LOL!! I LOVE the poomba joke!

I actually figured out today that it wasn't Daisy, but Rocky! He has had diarrhea ALL day! He got me up early this morning and had a rough time, straining and grunting. Then when I went to leave for work he had more trouble. I decided to call my neighbor to see if she could come check on them between the time I left and the time I came home for lunch. I left around 6:30 and she came by about 8am to find diarrhea in the dining room with some blood in it. She called me and I left work and came home. After once again cleaning (fortunately no Poomba interference this time
) I did some work from home. Rocky was fine for about 3hrs so I decided to try and go back to work. It was only going to be another 3hrs or so before I could get back and he'd been fine for the past 3hrs.

I had called the vet on my way home the first time and they said not to worry, his intestines were probably just irritated and that's why I was seeing the blood. They said as long as he's acting normal and drinking to just give him some rice, etc. for dinner and keep an eye on him.

So I went to work and when I came home there was MORE diarrhea and blood. I again called the vet and they again told me to give him some rice/ck for dinner and see how he does. He is still acting just fine.

Poor baby though, he has continued to have small bouts of diarrhea throughout this evening, although I haven't noticed the blood. If he is still having problems tomorrow I'm going to take him in to see the vet.

PS
I did have a good cry yesterday when I walked into the house... but I can definitely see how the story has it's funny side.

Signed,
The Poomba master

I wish mine could have access outside! Rocky will run outside to go if he can get out there, we just don't have a doggie door for them attached to the house.

And I hate to leave them outside all day because a)they bark a lot and we already have someone in the neighborhood complaining about my neighbor's dogs and b)it's so hot right now!

I can't believe Bella would go outside and wait until she got back inside to go! EEK!

What a mental image I got! If it counts for anything, I had an absolutely horrible day at work, and your post made me laugh, which I really needed.

I hope Rocky feels better - add a few tablespoons of canned unsweetened pumpkin to his food to help with the diarrhea. For any poo stains, spray with one of those enzyme cleaners, then wait a day for it to dry and use an Oxy cleaner. Works wonders.
I'm so glad that the post got a smile
Everyone at my office thought it was really funny too. There's just this mental image of a Roomba vacuum (supposedly this great helpful tool) making an absolute mess!! And it moves pretty slowly so I can just picture the poo slowly getting dragged across the floor and the dogs just staring and barking at it.

I hope your evening is better than your day!! Thanks for the pumpkin advice.
