First one, then two now all four dogs have ear infections. This has been going on for at least six months now. The vet and I are getting to know each other really well /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif We started with Otomax and worked our way up from there. I have even switched their food in case it was allergy caused, but so far no change. It also doesn't help that one dog, Buster, has an ear fetish and loves to like everybody's ears. The vet suggested bitter apple spray on the edges of the ears to get him to stop.
I was reading on another web site today that sometimes a dog has a system that is too alkaline and that adds to the problem and it suggests adding a small amount of white vinegar to the water dish. Has anybody had any success with curing infections?

Oh, how I remember those months when Boeing had ear infection!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif It took us months and a number of medication to get the problem fixed. I've become quite paranoid whenever I see any redness inside either one of those two flappers. The best I can do is to clean his ears every other day using cotton pads and keep his ears open and dry as much as I can.

beaglechaser, about the best think I can suggest is :(1)the bitter apple stuff your vet recommended doesn't work very well. Most dog owners that I have talked to that have used any of the bitter apple products said their dog usually ended up liking the taste. (2) I purchased, online, from Drs. Foster & Smith web site a jar of 90 pads that you use to clean out your dogs ears. Beagles need their ears cleaned at least 2-3 times a week. They getear infections very easy. (3)You dog with the ear licking is probably your main problem. But how you break that is a good question. :rotflmao: Try another vet.
