Well since I now am a proud Beagle owner, the hardest step that, myself included, may struggle with is ideas on potty training. My wife and I did some research and incorporated some our personal thoughts and came up with 21 steps in a guide format to perhaps help someone in need with there new companions. It may not apply in every way to your specific routine but may offer some tips in areas of struggles. This is the system i am using to help them help me. Hope it helps! :hyper:

Potty Training Guide

NO DOGS IN THE LIVING ROOM/BEDROOM AREA UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
ALL DOGS GET THE SAME POTTY TRAINING TREATMENT AS THE NEXT, EVEN IF ONE IS FURTHER ADVANCED THAN THE OTHER, UNTIL ALL THREE DOGS ARE READY TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STEPS.
IF AT ANY POINT ONE AND OR MORE OF THE DOGS REVERT BACK TO HAVING ACCIDENTS IN THE HOUSE, YOU BEGIN THE ENTIRE POTTY TRAINING PROSSESS OVER LIKE YOU NEVER BEGAN TRAINING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE.
WHEN USING THE POTTY TRAINING PROCESS BE PREPARED TO CHECK ON THE DOGS AND TAKE THEM OUT A MAXIMUM OF EVERY 2 HOURS, UNTIL YOU HAVE REACHED A POINT WHERE YOU CAN TELL WHEN THE DOGS ARE LETTING YOU KNOW THAT THEY HAVE TO GO, AND YOU RECOGNIZE THE SIGNS THEY ARE GIVING.
AS LONG AS ACCIDENTS ARE OCCURING, YOU SHOULD NOT TRY TO PROGRESS FURTHER IN THE POTTY TRAINING PROGRAM. BEFORE PROGRESSING FURTHER ALWAYS ASK YOURSELF WHEN THE LAST TIME ANY OF THEM HAD AN ACCIDENT WAS AND IF THEY UNDERSTAND THE POTTY TRAINING PROCESS SO FAR (ARE THEY DOING WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING, AND IS IT ON YOUR TERMS OR THEIRS?)
FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, GET THE LEASH, A COUPLE OF “SNACK/TREAT” ITEMS TOGETHER (MAKE A SET FOR EACH DOG)
THEN STARTING WITH CASEY, OPEN HER CRATE, PLACE THE LEASH ON HER AND CARRY HER TO THE DESIGNATED POTTY AREA.
TELL HER TO “GO POTTY” THEN ALLOW HER UP TO 10 MIN TO DO HER BUSINESS.
IF SHE GOES WITH NO PROBLEMS WITHIN THE TEN MIN TIME THEN SKIP STEP 10 AND CONTINUE ON TO STEP 11, IF SHE DOES NOT GO WITHIN THE 10 MIN TIME PERIOD MOVE ON TO STEP 10.
TAKE THE DOG BACK INSIDE, PLACE THE DOG IN THE CRATE, MOVE ON TO THE NEXT DOG, THEN UPON FINISHING STEP 9 WITH THE NEXT DOG, START OVER WITH STEP 2 WITH THE DOG THAT DID NOT “GO POTTY “ APPROPRIATELY.
IF THE DOG GOES POTTY OUTSIDE, GIVE “GOOD GIRL/BOY” PRAISING AND GIVE THE DOG (ONE AT A TIME) THE TREATS.
REPEAT THIS PROCESS WITH ALL THREE DOGS, UNTIL EACH ONE HAS GONE TO THE BATHROOM OUTSIDE, IN THE APPROPRIATE TIME FRAME AND RECEIVED THEIR TREATS.
YOU SHOULD, WITHIN A MATTER OF A COUPLE OF DAYS SEE A SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED AMOUNT OF ACCIDENTS INSIDE THE KITCHEN AREA (AND SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO CEASE CARRING THE DOG TO THE BATHROOM AREA).
ONCE A COUPLE OF DAYS HAVE GONE BY WITH NO ACCIDENTS IN THE KITCHEN AREA, YOU ARE READY TO BEGIN TAKING THEM OUT TWO AT A TIME.
WHEN YOU BEGIN TAKING THE DOGS OUT TWO AT A TIME YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO MIX IT UP (EXAMPLE: FIRST POTTY : CASEY/SAM, SECOND POTTY: CASEY/TINY, THIRD POTTY: SAM/TINY) IF WHEN BEGINNING TAKING THEM OUT TWO AT A TIME ONE AND OR BOTH OF THEM DISCONTINUE USING THE BATHROOM IN THE APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF TIME, THEN REVERT BACK TO TAKING THEM OUT ONE AT A TIME THROUGH-OUT THE REST OF THE DAY AND TRY AGAIN THE NEXT DAY UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO TAKE THEM OUT IN PAIRS.
ONCE THE DOGS HAVE GOTTEN USED TO GOING OUT IN PAIRS (AND YOU STILL ARE NOT SEEING ANY ACCIDENTS IN THE KITCHEN AREA) YOU ARE READY TO BEGIN TAKING THEM OUT THREE AT A TIME. START DOING THIS WITH EVERY COUPLE OF POTTY TRIPS, TO EVERY OTHER, TO EVERY (THOUGH KEEPING IN MIND THAT ALL THREE OF THEM MAY NOT HAVE TO USE THE POTTY AT THE SAME TIME, IF ONE HAS LET YOU KNOW THAT IT IS TIME TO GO, GO AHEAD AND TAKE ALL OF THE OUT YOU WILL ELIMINATE THE RISK OF MISSING ANY SIGNS THAT THE DOGS HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM AND THEREFOR REDUCING THE RISK OF ACCIDENTS DUE TO LACK OF OUTSIDE TIME.
NOW THAT ALL THREE DOGS ARE USED TO THE POTTY PLACE, THE “GO POTTY” COMMAND AND NOT TO USE THE BATHROOM IN THE KITCHEN AREA, YOU ARE GOING TO SLOWLY INTRODUCE THEM TO THE REST OF THE HOUSE.
WHEN THE DOGS ARE READY TO ADVENTURE INTO THE REST OF THE HOUSE, YOU WILL BRING THEM IN (ONE ROOM AT A TIME, FOR ONLY 10 MIN, IMMIDIATELY AFTER USING THE POTTY). AGAIN, THIS WILL BE DONE FROM EVERY COUPLE OF POTTY BREAKS, TO EVERY OTHER, UNTIL EVERY POTTY BREAK.
ONCE THE DOGS ARE USED TO COMING INTO THE REST OF THE HOUSE FOR 10 MIN, YOU ADD TIME (15-20-25-30-45-60-90 ETC.) UNTIL YOU CAN LEAVE THE DOGS IN THE ROOM WITH YOU WITHOUT CONCERN. NOW THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU STOP WATCHING THE DOGS FOR SIGNS OF NEEDING TO GO TO THE BATHROOM, THIS ACT BECOMES EVEN MORE IMPORTANT. FROM THIS POINT IT IS UP TO YOU TO WATCH FOR THEIR SIGNS IN ORDER TO KNOW WHEN YOU NEED TO TAKE THEM OUT. ALSO PERIODICALLY TAKE THEM OUT EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT SHOWING SIGNS OF HAVING TO GO, CHANCES ARE THEY PROBABLY NEED TO GO ANYWAY.
IF AT ANY POINT AFTER INTODUCING THE DOGS TO THE REST OF THE HOUSE, AND GOING A FEW DAYS/WEEKS WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENTS ONE OR MORE OF THE DOGS REVERT BACK TO GOING POTTY IN THE HOUSE (FIRST MAKE SURE YOU ARE TAKING THEM OUT OFTEN ENOUGH) THEN START BACK OVER LIKE YOU NEVER POTTY TRAINED THEM BEFORE AND CONTINUE DOING SO UNTIL YOU STOP HAVING ACCIDENTS.
REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE DOGS, AND THE OCCATIONAL ACCIDENT WILL HAPPEN, BUT UNTIL YOU ARE CONFIDENT THAT IT IS A RARE OCCATION, IT IS BEST TO START THE POTTY TRAINING PROCESS OVER AGAIN AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTING FROM THEM.
