Noticed this morning that Xerxes - who still has a beautiful tuck - is a bit beefier.

They haven't been getting a lot of exercise due to the heat (going to be 115F today with humidity, kill me now), and we feed Xerxes the same amount as Neb (who weighs 39lbs vs. Xerxes's 25lbs).

So, I fed Xerxes 10g less food this morning, and I walked the boys quickly before it got TOO hot, not long enough to do much, but every little bit, right?

I'm going to have to start getting up super early to make sure they get some exercise.

Then I ran after walking the boys, not far, but I did a hill circuit, and because I'm an idiot, I ran without water. Cut the run short because I got lightheaded!

Anyone else suffering in this heat?

How could 25lbs be bad? Try adding canned green beans as a filler to less food. I buy the low sodium type.
We've been in the high 80s but hotter is coming. Im not good in the heat particularly when its humid. Dont run without water. Your body can shut down quickly and before you realize without hydration.

I'm guessing he's gone up a 1, 1.5lbs from 25lbs to be honest. He's still fit, just not his top form. Not race weight, so to speak.

Yeah, I totally should've taken water. Lesson learned!

Sophie is happy because she can eat veggies from the garden - she thinks that she is getting away with something. Keeping her out of the cats food is challenging - she can open doors - have even caught her trying to climb the cat tree to get to it. Doesn't help that one of the cats will push her food off (for Sophie to eat) if it is not up to exalted feline standards (of course, then the cat goes hungry, but she seems to think that it is worth the gesture). Never ends!!! My youngest's latest rescue will defend her food - and even though the cat is tiny, her growl sends Sophie running. Now if only the other two would learn from her . . .

Yes it was very hot here recently. Finally cooled off a bit. I walked my dogs early in the morning and had the kiddie pool out when we went in the yard for a bit. Leaves are already starting to change colors a bit. I know what's coming so I will take the hot for a bit longer. Why can't Summer last 6 months like Winters do? Stay cool everyone!

Oh boy Sophie! When my cat was alive I kept his food on top of the dryer in the basement. My husband built a little thing out of wood to block his litter box so Autumn couldn't get into that

I think I imagined Xerxes gaining weight. Toby says I did. And we had to tighten his harness!
