Default Crook Crossed the Bridge

Last Tuesday we carried Crook to the vet to have him put asleep. He was almost 12 and had been in our house since he was a pup. His health had gone down rapidly the last year; epilepsy, seizures, arthritis, etc.

The Sunday evening prior to calling the vet, he laid in the couch beside me and just whined for minutes! That was the last straw. I could not tolerate the thought of him hurting. Just medicating him to prolong the inevitable seemed cruel.

If his humans were not so selfish, it should have prob been done a couple months ago.

Rest in peace buddy!! You'll be missed!!

I'm sorry for your loss. Crook was lucky - he had loving 'parents'. I hope all of your happy memories of him bring you comfort. He is not in pain anymore.

Thanks everyone!

I was trying to be more detached telling myself he was "just a dog" as he and I went to the vet's. Nah, didn't work. I cried like a little girl!

One of hardest things I've ever had to do.

The two girls are still demanding of both time and attention though!!

My heart goes out to you. Three years ago this month I had to make the hardest decision of my life: to put our 9 year old Beagle down. He was suffering recurring cancer after all the surgery and treatment. We have his ashes close by and are comforted by his waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. We did adopt another Beagle a few months later and she has been a gentle little angel sent to love us. She was due to be put down when the rescue group saved her. So we helped in saving another after losing one.
