Today would have been my baby's 14th birthday. Cancer took her life last August, and we miss her terribly. Echo was born as Wildair's Hot Apple Strudel in Dripping Springs, Texas and came to live with me 18 months later. She was wonderful from the very first day, giving "hugs" by putting her arms on your shoulders and arching her back and "kisses" with sweet dry licks. She'd "talk" to you when you scratched her chin, and she would put her head in your hand when you were sleeping. She wanted nothing more than to go EVERYWHERE with us, and we took her anytime we could. She was the plant dog at a power station, where her job was chasing rabbits & lizards and her paycheck (and later retirement payments) came in the form of beef jerky. She would pick up the dog toys and pile them up, and she would climb in the baby's car seat when we'd go for a ride. She visited beaches, mountains and lakes, and she had the best "Aaarroooo!" I've ever heard. Looking at pictures still breaks my heart, so I'll post just one. I just wanted to share how much I love and miss my baby. Thanks everyone.

Echo was a beautiful dog, and it's understandable why you still miss her so much. I understand, because we had our Chipper up until about three years ago, he would have been 13 this year, but we can still bring a tear up for him. I think beagles get into your heart, and never leave, there is always a little arrrrrooooooo left over in there. HUGS to you....

Echo was a beautiful girl. So sorry for your loss, from the way you describe her I can tell she had a wonderful life with you and your family. Thank you for sharing her story.

Such a beautifully written tribute to your Echo. I'm jealous you could take her so many places ... I am now resolved to taking my girls with me as many places as I can! Thanks so much for sharing.

bless her, what a lovely tribute. we take our beags everywhere we can, and i gladly give up my girlie shopping trips and 'ladies what lunch' trips because i dont want to leave them any longer than i have to on a daily basis. we do have 2 foregin holidays a year where we leave them at home with my parents in situ and a dog walker for them, but take them on their own special doggie holidays to the beach 4 times a year, so for about 345 days a year they are with me as much as i can be. time flies and they are not with us for long enough, so i try and make every moment count. birthdays and christmes, they have parties and presents etc. loads of photo opportunities............ the list is endless, in fact my kids say i give them more attention than the kids !!lol
