Default Bentley - New to me and the forum

Hello everyone,

I just got Bentley - he is 11 weeks old and full of fun....and parasites!

We have him on medicine but what a way to start a new relationship.

He has Girardia. He got it from the breeder in Missouri. The Vet says he has Girardia Cysts which means he probably got it in the placenta from the mother. He is on his second round of meds.

He is so cute. Hope the meds work quickly and the breeder is paying for the costs.

Aww he is adorable! When we got Lily she had worms...I don't know if it's true or not but the vet said that is common in puppies *shrugs* either way they gave us stuff for it and when we went back the next time it had cleared up.

Multiple vets have told me that just about all puppies are born with roundworms. The giradia, though, is a tad different. It's more common in outdoor raised dogs who drink from contaminated water.

Giardia is super common in certain areas, like NYC. I was told by my vet that almost every puppy will contract it. Our pup did and after 10 days or so of meds, she was all good. Most adult dogs can fight it off on their own so it's less of an issue then. It is sad and does not feel good for the puppy, but they will be fine.
