Thank you for rescuing here and giving her a loving forever home!
Hi, i've just joined as a member. My Beagle is called buster and i hope to post a picture of him soon, He's so cute & comical!!! I am from the UK. We rescued buster from a kennel neer our home. Why is it all the rescue story's are so sad. Mine is no exeption. When we saw buster in his pen he was so loving and just wanted stroking. As soon as they opened the pen he wouldn't come out. After about 20 mins he came out. All he would do is lie on the floor. We got him to the front gate to take him out but he wouldn't go anywhere and if a Beagle doesn't want to do something they don't!!!! It was clear he had been attacked by his previous owner, I don't want to go into detail but he had cigatette burns in his ears and little nicks out of them and was in an awful state. I cryed and took pity on him there and then and loved him ever since. He is now king of the castle and has all the love he needs. We have had no trouble from him in the two years we've had him apart from the Chewing, Escaping, Howling, Barking and Drewling. We have a second dog now and they are sole mates, it's lovely to see. I don't know if it's different in america but you don't see many beagles in our area and we always get children running up to us asking if he bite's so they can stroke him. you just have to look at him to see that he is daft as a brush. We have had to do alot of work with him getting him used to my hairdryer, hair brush, newspapers, hoover etc.. all things we assume he has been attacked with. He wouldn't let men walk behind him for month's and cowers beside me if any men used to come into the room. Bless him, well i best get off now. I'll be driving you all mad. I just needed to tell you all about my 'little angel'.
I just caught your introduction of Buster. Bless his heart. The real reward of rescuing is to overcome their fears, see that first glimmer of hope, then watch as they come to trust, adjust, and become happy/ Please tell us more Buster stories and Welcome to Beagle World
Hello Hello! I am new here (obviously) Just thought I would give a brief introduction. I have two dogs and two cats. One of course is a beagle, her name is Bianca. My other dog is a big goofy black lab named Darby. We have two cats as well Bentley & L.C. (little cat). Bianca is my first beagle, she is a little over 4 years old. Not really sure how to put pictures on a post, but here is the link to my beagle and lab.
Welcome to you, Bianca, Darby and the 2 kitties.
We would love to see more pictures. To post there directly just copy and paste the IMG CODE from the picture to the message, like so:
Welcome to BW! Bianca and Darby are a beautiful pair. For more helpful hints re posting pics, there is a separate forum called "Photo Posting Help". Be sure to check the size of your photo before posting. There are size restrictions at the top of each forum.
Hello all,
New to this and across the pond in England with a year-old beagle called Monty. Will put some pictures up shortly. He's a real character who seems to confuse inanimate objects with consumables. Not sure how to stop him doing it and worried we'll have a huge vet bill to pay. Maybe he's part shark! Nothing seems to be off the menu for him.
There is some history on that. I don't know everything about it, but I know the basics.
Beagle World was started about 8 years ago by a Beagle lover and his web site tech friend. Last year the Tech guy wanted to put the web site up for sale because it was becoming too draining on him as it took a lot of time and money plus family health problems. Well there was a disagreement on who actually owned/started the website and it got ugly. Anyway, the Beagle guy broke off and started his own website and brought many of the old people with him. Many people took sides and people were banned. Others didn't take sides and just felt sorry that old freindships had to end like this. I have been around here for about 4 years so I know many of the people on both sides of the fence. BW was eventually sold to a company that professionally maintains it. It is different now, but still is a good place to be. There are lots of knowledgeable people that love beagles and love to talk about them and share with and help others. It is not so much as a social network as it used to be, but that will come in time as people get to know each other better.
As far as the eating things goes, you just have to beagle proof your home as best as you can and even then, they always seem to get into things they are not supposed to, it is quite an adventure to say the least.
We have lost remote controls, socks, underwear, some moulding. But, after some training and giving them acceptable things to chew on and play with it got better.
Thank you for the advice. I suspected that might be the case. I just worry about his little one-year-old digestive system! He hoovered up some staples that I dropped and frantically scrabbled around trying to pick up not so long ago. Think he only got a couple but not ideal! He is a little sweetie though and we knew perfectly well that for the gorgeousness of the beagle, you also have to accept the wayward personality of the beagle! The defiance is the funniest characteristic I've seen in a dog- he seems to have a certain grumbling noise that says 'no, I don't think so.'
Thanks again for the reassurance that we will just have to get used to having all our worldly belongings higher than beagle height. Now to stop his (really quite impressively high) jumping!
hello beagle world! My puppy Jane Deere ( we call her Deere for short) decided to join here so we could share our stories and chat with other beagle lovers. we first got Deere from a local flea market and she was very sick with some kind of parasite. We fell in love instantly though and got her treated. she is now well and growing fast! shes about 6 months old now and so happy. shes my lazy girl and sleeps with mommy every night! but man you should see her when daddy comes home from work! :hyper: she is so loving and we hope to get her another beagle soon. (dont worry shes not alone we also have 3 yorkies that she LOVES to wrestle with.) thanks for welcoming us!
Hi, this is Ace from Los Angeles, 9 months old. We are new to the forum, I like to read the good advices. Ace is my third dog and he was a handful. After training he is the best dog...but he doesn't want to sleep with me anymore. I don't know why , he used to before , maybe because I'm the one who disciplines him???
Hi - this is Biscuit. She is my first dog (she is now 6 months) and I love her to bits. She's getting spayed tomorrow. I know I shouldn't be and it's standard procedure but I'm worried. Wish her luck!!!
The hardest thing we had when Niko and Yuki were spayed was keeping them quiet after the anesthesia wore off. They play really rough with each other and as soon as they were fully awake they wanted at each other again.
I wish luck, when mine was neutered he really wasn't sick after it, he didn't even need the e-collar. But to tell you the truth I was worried sick....
Let me now how was it and how she is...
I hope all of the pups are doing well after their surgeries. Spaying and neutering is super important for so many reasons, so thank you for doing the responsible thing with your Beagles!
Hello everyone. Kass here, proud momma to my beautiful Nikka (Anikka Nicolette), who turns a year old on the 23rd of June. We love her to bits; she is the queen of our tiny one-bedroom apartment. Her other mommy, Jeni, and I have been thinking of getting her a sibling but have to consider the space they will share (tiny!). Will post pics of our little angel soon. =)
Welcome to the Forum, Kasseopeia and Nikka! I share a very small house with three dogs and a cat. You tend to trip over an animal every so often, but I'm still glad I have them all.
Well, I rescued my puppy. Her name is Dayzie. Shes about a year old. I celebrate her birthday on the day I rescued her. July 6th, I was driving down a back road and got on a straight away and saw a car sitting with its door open. Then some guy runs out of the woods and looks back then jumps in his car and speeds off. He was going to fast for me to see what the plates read and I wasn't sure what was going on. But I slowed down and about the time I got to where he was at a puppy comes bouncing out like it was playing. I stopped the car started crying and swooped her up. I thought how could anyone do this. It was a wooded ditch and the road and coyotes are known in the area. She licked my neck and just loved attention. She stole my heart. I thought I wouldn't be able to take her in cause I live at my parents and they already have three dogs so I started looking for her a home. But when It came time to possibly give her up I couldn't. So I asked my parents if I could keep her and they said yes if I took full responsibility of her. So I was/ am blessed from that day on with a beautiful Beagle mix. She's perfect and God gave me a gift cause he knew what was to come not long after. So she saved me just like I saved her.
