Hi all!
I last posted in early September when I adopted my beagle Lucy from a high-kill shelter in KY. She was such a sick pup. At 1.5 yrs, she arrived to us having already had a litter of pups, pregnant with a second litter of 12 pups, 4 kinds of worms (hookworm, tapeworm, roundworm, strongyloides) lyme disease, and practically emaciated. Lucy is now happy, healthy, social, and absolutely beautiful! Anyway, my question is this: I use Frontline for Lucy because I have 4 cats at home and am hesitant to use K9 Advantix. The Frontline has the option for dogs up to 22lbs, and dogs from 23-44lbs. Lucy is 27lbs. Which one would be better to use? I was using the up to 22lbs in the summer/fall when she was only 23lbs but over winter she gained weight (a healthy weight!) and now I'm wondering if the one for 23-44lbs is too much meds, or if the up to 22lbs is too little meds. Thanks! Here's a pic of my baby girl!

She is very pretty! I've been lucky (knock on wood!) and haven't had to use flea preventative in several years. When my Chow was living she had a flea allergy and at that time the only choices were Advantage or Frontline. (I'm not familiar with this Advantix?) Anyway, the Frontline worked best for her. I would say she needs the 23 pounds and up size because at 27 pounds she is 5 pounds over the other limit. I know with heartworm preventative I go to the next size if it's even a pound over. I understand what you mean about the chemicals. I don't like them either. But I figure if you're going to use them at all you might as well use enough or otherwise they are getting the harmful chemical effects but not enough of them to do what you need them to do.

I'd say if you can get it Advocate. You can order it online to home deliver its wormer & flea treatment in 1! Excellent stuff only thing it doesn't cover is tapeworm but covers all kinds of mites and lice too. It's amazing in my opinion. Glad she's got a good home now
she's beautiful x
