Ended up being $202, that's with a military discount of like 10% or so. Took him in today to make sure everything was ok and it is we never used the cone either and he really never messed with it much. Hopefully stitches will be gone soon so I can give him a bath!!

Thought I'd add on to this thread. It's Bender's time to get snipped up and I called my usual vet today to ask the costs and was told the screening appointment with subsequent blood work is $149 and the actual laser neutering is $360ish. Am I getting taken for a ride? If I go with a much cheaper options, does that mean I love my dog less?

If you can find a cheaper alternative there is nothign wrong with that. laser is always more expensive.

Our laser spay was $800. Now, spaying may be more expensive, but that's a big difference. We are in NYC so that accounts for some too, but I doubt 360 is a rip off where you are. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

A lot depends on the area in which you live and the vet you use. There are "friends of animals" coupons which cover the spay and cost about $32. Unfortunately very few vets will accept them. Average price in my (rural) area is $200.

Wow!! I really do love my Vet!!! I just talked to her not 5 minutes ago making an appointment to take Max AND a stray cat in to be neutered. Giving them a full exam and Max all his shots including kennel cough, She is charging me $125. Getting one done through BAWL who have already sent her funds for the strays. If I choose to not get the Bordetella vaccine it will be $75.

Bordetalla is a non core vaccine.

KUDOS on taking care of the cats. I do TNR (trap neuter and release) thankfully I can get it done for 25$ and often can get a sponser for the cat. I have done 41 in my complex already in 3 years. If this is something your doing you can cehck alley cat allies to see if there is assistance in your area.
