Hey guys,
Thanks for all your lovely thoughts and wishes!! Ben is back with us. We arrived at the vets yesterday with my parents in tow. As the nurse was running through all the important information and his medication, we could hear him barking. He could hear our voices so he then started barking louder. We knew he would be pleased to see us but the little dog we had left had been so poorly and quiet. It was quite nervewracking waiting for the nurse to go and get him since he'd been a shadow of his former self and one of the things you have to prepare yourself for is that there may be brain damage with canine meningitis. He came trotting into the surgery waiting room and immediately his tail started wagging and he jumped up to greet and lick the both of us. Typically of him, he did a circuit of the room to say hello to everyone. Our little boy was back!! We had been told not to expect miracles but the change in him was incredible. He has lost a little weight, though he appears to be putting it back on fast. We are so thankful to the great team who treated him. What we do know is that we were very close to losing him and it's testemant to their hard work and dedication and of course his courage and strength that he was able to pull through. He was very clingy to me on the journey home but he was able to find a few minutes to do one of his favourite things - placing his head by the car window so he could feel the cool breeze and look at the view. When he got home we gave him his new toy (Toby, a cuddly dog with his exact markings) and a lovely new soft brown blanket to wrap himself up in. He is so much perkier and happier, though he has been sleeping lots as he is still on the mend. A colleague of mind was kind enough to give a dog cook book so today he was treated to surprise meal of mashed potato made with chicken stock, boiled shredded chicken breast and some cottage cheese with chicken gravy. He loved it and kept looking up at me as if to say 'thanks for the treat Dad'. |

That is so awesome! It is a testament to the team who worked on him, to the family who loves him, and to all those who prayed for him. I am glad to hear he showed so much improvement. I am sure he is loving being with you again and all his new things. I hope we continue to hear how he is doing.
